What a gem this place is! Doña Elena is a superlative host: warm, welcoming, attentive. She goes out of her way to make her guests feel at home, whether that’s carrying breakfast (different each day) up to the flower-filled terrace, providing informed advice on destinations, calling you a car, even making you dinner, on request. Read moreThe Bird Garden Guest House is a lovely retreat in Quito. Communication was very good and included support for airport transfers, local tours, and suggestions for local dining within walking distance (e.g., Achiote, Miskay). Breakfast includes delicious local juices, fruits, and eggs, cooked to order. The outdoor, second floor patio is lovely with blooming plants and sparkling violetear hummingbirds flitting around. I highly recommend a stay at...
