Grand Hotel Leon Marino Galapagos — Hotel in Parroquia Puerto Ayora

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a group tour. This hotel looks nice from the outside, and the rooms look nice in pictures, but it ended up being very disappointing. My main issues were that there was only wifi in the reception and restaurant area, there was no wifi in the rooms at all. Other hotels that are more basic than this one on the Galapagos can manage this, so I don't know why this bigger hotel can't. The other issue was that there were ants in my room and bathroom. Another minor issue, which isn't the hotel's fault, is that there is a lot of mud in the waterfront just in front of the hotel which makes outside the hotel smell pretty bad.||Other than the issues above my room was ok, the bed was comfy but the pillow was not. There was no bedside table, I used the desk stool as a makeshift one. The air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was a nice size, but the hot water was a bit temperamental. Some of the rooms are very far away from reception and require walking a lot of stairs and corridors to get to them.||Breakfast was a buffet, it wasn't anything special but it was edible. The way they'd laid the tables out made things a bit awkward.||This hotel has the potential to be so much better, installing wifi and controlling the ants would be a good start. Until they've done that I would not recommend staying...

We stayed here for 4 days. The hotel is 4 min walk to the dock and very close to good restaurants in the area. We stayed in Room 8. The floor almost always feel sticky but we think it’s due to the humidity and being close to the ocean. The shower could use a bit more water pressure; and more hooks to hang the towels. There was no|Complimentary water in this hotel, unlike the other hotels we stayed at; no tea kettle or coffee pot.|For a grand hotel, this property has very weak almost non-existent Wi-fi in the room. We had to stay on the first floor by the reception to access wifi to check-in our flights and emails etc. We brought this up to the Receptionist, we tried their different wifi access but it’s not functional. We get better wi-fi going to restaurants, cafes, even on a Ferry, & other hotels we stayed at. Needless to say, the smart TV did not work either— not that we are crazy about it. On the positive note, it’s generally clean, they reserve breaKfast table with your name, breakfast was decent, they offer lunch boxes if you need it, the laundry service is good, it has a pool, plenty of seating areas by the lobby.|Over-all, it’s a good place but we will consider other options if we come...

Mientras hacíamos el trámite de reserva, las respuestas eran casi inmediatas. Copio el mensaje que mandé por WhatsApp hace 5 días y no tengo respuesta todavía.

Andres cómo vas? Nuestra estadía en tu hotel terminó el viernes pero por temas de internet no pude escribirte y por tiempo…no pude hablar con nadie en el hotel para decirles lo que voy a decirte ahora.

La estadía estuvo bastante bien, salvo las cosas que voy a decirte que nos dejan un mal sabor. Te las voy a enumerar sin orden pero todas para que las tengas presentes si su afán es mejorar.

Seguramente limpian con cloro o con algún otro producto que destiño a marrón una media negra. ⁠En la caja de seguridad dejamos guardadas las billeteras de mis hijos desde el día que llegamos hasta el día que nos fuimos sin sacarlas para nada. Cada uno tenía $50 en sus billeteras (4 billetes de $10 y 2 billetes de $5) y de cada una desapareció un billete de $10. No se si sea una práctica habitual, no se quien custodia las llaves de todas las cajas de seguridad, pero en la nuestra pasó esto que te comento. Esto es una de las cosas que más nos molestó, pero al no tener pruebas…solo nos queda la certeza de lo que ahí había y el mal sabor para todos, más aún para mis hijos. ⁠ahora ya llegando acá, vemos que faltan 5 pares de medias (allá no vimos porque solo usamos y guardábamos para la vuelta) que si te pones a ver cómo huésped dices….vale la pena volver aquí? ⁠No se si en algún momento limpian la piscina (nunca vimos hacerlo) pero el agua todos los días que estuvimos (8) estaba turbia, por eso jamás usamos la piscina. ⁠En el momento del desayuno, las personas que están ahí (son muy amables, eso no está en tela de duda) apenas veían un plato con poca comida, ya querían levantarlo. Es más, un día estábamos solo con uno de mis hijos y levantaron los otros dos cubiertos e individuales siendo que todavía faltaban dos personas por desayunar. ⁠sabían que éramos 4 personas en esa habitación y solo dejaban dos juegos de toallas. ⁠la limpieza de la habitación es bastante superficial y no es prolija, dejan el meson del baño mojado y limpian lo indispensable para que “se vea limpio” espejo, mucho desinfectante en el hinodoro, camas tendidas (no barren, no secan el piso, no secan el meson del baño.

Te comento esto porque fue contigo con quien hice la reserva y toda la tratativa previa a tomar la decisión de hospedarnos ahí. Espero que lo tomes en consideración, ya que, no se si tú eres de ir o no al hotel. Que tengas una...
