I recently stayed at King Pyramid Hotel, and I must share the deeply disappointing experiences I encountered.
Poor Location and Room Quality The hotel’s location is mediocre at best. You need to walk through dusty streets for twenty minutes to reach the North Gate, and if you plan to visit the East Gate (the one near the Sphinx), it might feel like an eternity. Generally, you’ll find yourself dependent on taxis to get to the pyramids. The room conditions were substandard; the bed sheets were pilled and scratchy, making it hard to sleep. The toilet splashed water onto your legs with each flush, requiring you to stand quite far back to avoid getting wet. The sink was also frustratingly small, the hot water supply was inadequate, the bathroom drainage was slow, and the Wi-Fi was practically unusable at a speed of 50kb/s.
Theft of Property and Unprofessional Conduct During my stay, a bottle of Phyto conditioner, valued at approximately €20, was stolen from my room. Despite locking away most of my valuables, this one item left out for convenience was taken. I promptly reported this to the hotel manager with video and photo evidence, but the resolution process was utterly frustrating. Initially, the manager attempted to compensate with an unfair exchange rate of $15. After we pointed out the discrepancy, he grudgingly agreed to the correct amount based on the official rate. Furthermore, his response was unprofessional; he displayed a hostile attitude and even retaliated by demanding 200 EGP for luggage storage—a service stated as free on Booking.com. This disregard for customer trust forced us to leave the hotel prematurely.
Fraudulent Charges and Racial Bias Our booking included “all-inclusive breakfast,” yet the hotel staff repeatedly tried to impose additional charges. On the second day, not only did I pay 300 EGP for coffee, but I also left an extra 50 EGP tip. Additionally, the waiter charged me 50 EGP for a bottle of mineral water and 100 EGP for two bottles, which were supposed to be included for free. The money isn’t significant, but the deceit is disgraceful. On the third day, I uncovered the tactics of a “shrewd” waiter who went as far as to print a fabricated bill to overcharge me. This treatment was exclusive to me, as I observed white guests receiving the same drinks and water without additional costs. I am perplexed by the behavior of the staff and deeply offended by this blatant discrimination and deceitful exploitation. I found out later when i read the reviews from others with the same issues, clearly this“clever” waiter is some relative to the owner as he continues to do whatever he wants.
Conclusion The incidents of theft, unprofessional management response, racially biased fraudulent practices, poor location, and substandard room conditions have severely tainted my perception of Egypt as a welcoming tourist destination. I urge potential travelers to reconsider their accommodation choices. These serious concerns have been reported to the tourism authority and will be detailed further in my travel journal.
If you wish to be deceived and humiliated, feel free to stay here. Otherwise, unless you are a blond-haired, blue-eyed person that might unsettle them, I do not recommend this place. Lastly, a fitting proverb: “A promise not kept is no...
Read moreAs soon as I walked in, I knew we chose the right hotel. The manager Hady personally checked us in and was so amazing and helpful. We were welcomed with a drink and had our bags carried by one of the helpful staff members. I unfortunately didn't get his name. Our room was very specious and of high standard the bathroom was absolutely excellent as you can see by the pictures. The room also comes with complimentary slippers, toothbrushes, shampoo, shower gel and body lotion along with coffee, tea and 2 water bottles that were delivered daily by housekeeping. Who I can say do a very good job cleaning and making the beds. For breakfast, you have 3 options. I personally recommend oriental option, which was very tasty. The view for breakfast is also very nice with the Pyramids, although the building opposite blocks some of the view, but it's still very good its a slightly bigger issueif you have deluxe room with a balcony as then it blocks more of the view. On our first day, we also got additional complimentary waffles for desert after breakfast. The manager approached us, asking how everything was. He even gave us his personal cell number in case we needed to know anything while being out of the hotel, along with some really helpful advice on how to avoid scams and not engage too much in conversations from people on the street as they will try and get money out of you. I also have to thank the lady at the reception Salma for her helpful advice on getting around with Uber or Careem and the nearest place to safely exchange money. During our stay, we had a minor issue being the hairdryer in our room didn't work, but all I had to do was dial 400 on the phone, and they sent a replacement within minutes. The only thing I would warn travellers about before booking is that the hotel only accepts cash in USD as payment. We were warned about this in advance, though, so we arrived prepared. The other slightly annoying thing was that the showers only have the non movable shower head at the top and no handle one to move around but generally the bathrooms were excellent. Aside for that, I would say book away as we had a very nice experience staying here...
Read more⚠️ Warning: Total Scam! ⚠️ This rooftop restaurant completely ruined our experience. Yes, the view of the pyramids is nice, and we don’t mind paying a (compulsory) service charge — but they trick you by charging more than the prices listed on the menu. They claim it’s some “extra tax” added on each food item, which basically doubled our bill.
On top of that, the service was painfully slow and the food arrived cold. We paid in USD and were supposed to get $10 change, but the staff (and even the hotel reception) refused to give us change, saying they “don’t have US dollars.”
We felt completely scammed, disrespected, and humiliated. This place is a...
