Misleading Photos – Unsafe Area, Unacceptable Hygiene, Exploitative Service
My recent stay at Kove Hotel was not just disappointing – it was deceptive, unsafe, and at times, outright exploitative. While the view of the Pyramids is indeed spectacular, nearly everything else ranged from below standard to outright dangerous.
Hygiene & Cleanliness • The stairwells, elevator, and common areas were visibly dirty and neglected. • I personally encountered a dead cockroach on the stairs – an unacceptable sight in any hotel. • The rooms were not soundproofed, making sleep difficult and eliminating any privacy.
Surroundings & Safety • The surrounding area resembled a dumping ground – filled with trash, stray animals, and crumbling buildings. • Online photos are highly misleading and do not reflect reality.
Food & Health Concerns • I ordered a burger via room service which was completely inedible. • After a camel ride arranged by the hotel, I developed a fever over 38°C, diarrhea, and tremors. A local doctor suspected contaminated food or exposure to infected animals as the likely cause.
Misleading Information & Overcharging • Hotel staff claimed Uber wasn’t allowed near the Pyramids – this was false, as we saw many Ubers in the area. • Instead, they arranged a 15-minute roundtrip ride with a driver and so-called “guide” for €80, plus €20 more demanded as a “tip”. • When I asked to reverse the charge, reception refused, saying “the money has already been given.”This was not service – it felt like a scam.
Staff Attitude & Response • When we expressed our concerns calmly and directly, the staff showed zero interest. • No apology, no solution – just dismissal.
Final Note to Future Guests & Booking.com This is not a boutique hotel. It is a run-down, poorly managed property with serious hygiene and service issues. The Pyramid view, while beautiful, does not justify the deception. I am not requesting a refund – only fairness. I want other travelers to know the truth before booking. Booking.com should reconsider promoting this listing until major changes are made.

I recently had the privilege of staying at this incredible hotel, and I'm still reeling from the exceptional experience. The moment I stepped into my room, I was awestruck by the direct view of the Pyramids - it was like having a piece of history right in front of me!
But what truly made my stay unforgettable was the phenomenal service. The staff, including Mariam, Youseff, Abdul Rahman, Mumin, Zaynab, and were all incredibly attentive and courteous. Our tour operator mohammed , was knowledgeable and passionate, making our exploration of the Pyramids an unforgettable experience.

Read moreThis place could’ve been the diamond in the rough because the location and the rooms were simply AMAZING! The room was sparkling clean and beautifully furnished with very tasteful finishings and a generous sized bathroom. The bath overlooking the pyramids was a real standout and definitely the biggest selling point for us. I could just sit in the bath all day and stare out the window for hours.
What faltered for us and thus dropping 1-star from my rating was really the front desk service. Now I understand that for the price we paid we shouldn’t expect 5-star service but no one helped us with our bags after we checked in. They were left next to the elevators along the narrow corridor stairs between floors that could’ve easily been taken by anyone. That evening when we went out for dinner, the elevators did not work despite us trying to push the button to call the elevator so we had to take the stairs down past a construction site and other people’s homes along the way which felt a bit intrusive. Also, the second time we checked in after a few days trip outside of Cairo, we were asked to fill in our personal details again (to put on file) because the receptionist couldn’t find the one we filled out less than a week ago. I also had emailed ahead to make reservations at 2 restaurants but when I arrived at both restaurants they couldn’t find my reservation at all. These little things are minor inconveniences but still worth noting, but would still definitely recommend staying here if you’re...
