Stayed at the above hotel ( Concord Elsalam) in Heliopolis; Cairo for 3 nights.|We arrived late; nearly midnight. After an exhausting trip; we found that the room has twin beds. I’ve booked king size bed. The receptionist staff claimed that the hotel is fully booked; of course I know this was not true. I requested to speak to the duty manager; then I was told the room will be ready in 30 min. We went to the room at 2 AM. The manager brought the key to us. The other receptionist staff did not even say sorry for such a delay in getting us a room that was supposed to be ready 10 hours ago. Then when you ask the receptionist on a map; information leaflet; .....etc they do not have it!|Makes you wonder what is going on in the receptionist area which is the focus of every tourist. Management need to have a good look at that area as training and improvement is vital for the hotel survival in a competitive market.|Security is excellent; there is a swimming pool for adults and children; not heated. There is a good Jim too.|The hotel is similar to Marriott Heliopolis: Cairo. Old charming rooms ; good size. Rooms are clean; but we had to ask for items like slippers ; tooth brush; polish; which supposed to be in the room.|There’re is a nice play area for children too.|Breakfast is basic; really fits 3 star hotel. |Internet is free but slow and gets...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel for three days. It's a great place for price/value. Location #1. Just a few steps from the Nile River. With a wonderful restaurant on the bank. Good quiet place to have breakfast (if you prefer it to the (decent) hotel breakfast) or lunch. Walking distance to the Cairo National Opera, and a must visit if there are any performances. There I saw the Chinese Ballet and it was really an amazing experience to see Chinese ballet in Cairo. A true globalization. Just one metro stop from Tahrir Square (we've all seen it on TV). And there is the National Museum. A huge labyrinth of ancient artifacts that we have never seen or could imagine, such as 3,000-year-old flutes. Mummies and beautiful stone faces of Egyptian princesses. And my favorites: the portraits of the Fayum mummies. #2 It's comfortable. I had my own reservations thinking that facing the busy El-Tahrir Street might be noisy. By no means. The hotel rooms start on the sixth floor, so it is quiet. The next day, the management offered me an even better room facing the backyard for the same price, and it had Western TV and everything. #3 Management. They are extremely friendly, respond to all your requests and speak good English. It's like home, somewhere in NJ. It's not 5* but it's great value for travellers...
Read moreHotel is very close to the city center on the onne of the very busy city center streets. Loby of the hotel is in the ground floor with the restaurant just above it. Rooms of the hotel are on the higher floors of some old building. Two old small elevators are bringing guests on the higher floors. Rooms are small and very old. Airconditioning was not working, and quite a bed smell has been foing out from the toalet. |After opening windows and room door we cleared the air and for a short stay it was enough. Room was clean but floor and toilet could be better cleaned.|Stuff was very polite and on your service. Room with a view to the city streets was fun if you enjoy the view on hectic traffic and quite a lot of noise. Nile river is just a few minites away on foot and in oposite direction you have few small restaurants.|I would say this is a Egyptian style 3 star hotel but in Europe this would be...
