I specially narrowed down my search of hotels to ones that have air conditioning as it was expected to be a very warm weekend. When I arrived late in the evening my room was very warm at 75 degrees (24C). After having the AC on for about an hour with no change I went down to the front desk. They said maintenance was out for the evening but they would look at it the next day. They gave me a fan and told me to open the window in the meantime. While this was a decent solution, this was NOT AC. In addition, my room was facing the road and it was VERY noisy all night.
The next day I went down and asked again about the AC and they said they'd have maintenance in to look at it.
When I came back from exploring 5 or so hours later, the AC was fixed and they left a complimentary bottle of wine.
That was nice of them but honestly I'm still a little upset because this place was NOT at all cheap. I could have gotten a room elsewhere that didn't advertise AC for half the price.
The hotel staff did try to fix the issue but I feel like they could have moved me to a different room that first evening.
The rest of the stay went well once my AC was working. The room was nice enough, the location was great, the staff were nice, the beds were very comfy, the AC was cold and quiet once it worked, and the shower and bathroom were nice.
If I were to visit again I'd possibly stay here again but only if they could verify beforehand that...
Read moreNice hotel, in excellent location at the edge of the old town. Rooms with views towards the square are very nice, sunset is also visible. Rooms on the side road not as good, they oversee a glass building. There is a lot of noise from the streets, especially from the trams. The windows have good isolation that blocks most of the traffic noise, but since we were on the 2nd floor it was still noisy from the trams. After midnight it ramps down, so you can have a good sleep. Beds are quite comfortable. Rooms are nicely decorated, and bathroom is fresh. The spa was very quiet, operates until 10 PM, which was very convenient for us. Not need to pre-book, you can drop by anytime. There are 2 saunas, a small pool and a small jacuzzi. Not so big, but decent. Breakfast was also very tasty. No variety, so if you stay for a few days you could get tired of eating the same things. Staff at the front reception is helpful and pleasant. But the staff at the breakfast serving were always grim. They all had an emotionless air around them, it made you wonder what is going on with them. It is because of these reasons that the hotel does not get full rating from me. However, I would still not have a problem to come by again. But that time I will request a room on the higher floors which...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here recently for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our time in this wonderful hotel. Check in/ out went smoothly. Our spacious superior room was nicely appointed although the decor was a bit of a shock. I cannot decide whether they were aiming for retro kitsch or if the carpets really are there since the Brezhnev era (brown swirls not seen since the 1970s!) Most importantly however everything was spotlessly clean, bright and airy. Breakfast was great, all the usuals. We ate lunch in the hotel bar one day and it really was top class. Hubby had beef on brioche and I had the goats cheese salad with honey drizzled peaches. Top class! The location of this hotel is excellent, just as you enter the old town so you have the atmosphere without the noise at night. The staff are what make this hotel stand out from the others. There is a genuine warmth and eagerness to help which cannot be taught. Each person we encountered was so friendly and nice to deal with. It really did make a difference. I wholeheartedly recommend staying in this hotel. You will not be...
