I travel frequently and have stayed at numerous hotels across a wide range of price categories, so I consider myself fairly experienced when it comes to evaluating accommodations. Initially, my stay at Tallink City Hotel seemed promising. While the rooms were quite small, and there was nowhere to properly store wet shoes – a noticeable inconvenience during Estonia’s snowy winter – the overall impression was acceptable. Unfortunately, my experience took a sharp downturn during breakfast.
On my first morning, I encountered an issue with the filtered coffee dispenser, which was empty. When I politely asked the breakfast manager, a woman named Jelena, if it would be possible to brew more, her response was both curt and dismissive. Despite my polite tone, she seemed unwilling to engage in any form of courteous dialogue. I was taken aback by her attitude but decided to let it slide, hoping it was an isolated incident.
The following morning, however, the same issue arose. Once again, the coffee dispenser was empty, and I was forced to approach the same manager. This time, her response was openly rude and laden with arrogance, leaving me completely stunned. I calmly asked her to refill the coffee, which I had every right to expect as part of the breakfast service I paid for, but her dismissive behavior left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. When I asked for her name, I noted it was displayed on her nametag as Jelena.
This experience soured my impression of the entire hotel. Hospitality is not just about the facilities but also the staff’s attitude and service, and in this regard, Tallink City Hotel failed miserably. I cannot recommend this hotel to others, especially business travelers, and I will ensure my colleagues at a larger Swedish bank choose alternative accommodations when staying in Tallinn.

Read moreI had an absolutely terrible experience at this hotel that made me feel completely unsafe. I was staying here for two nights on a business trip. After a long workday, I went to the spa to relax. It was around 8.30 pm and I was alone, the reception had confirmed that the spa was open until 10.00 pm. At 9.45 pm a man suddenly entered the spa completely naked. He claimed he had a “private session” booked. I was shocked and felt incredibly unsafe, especially as I was alone in the spa area, which is located underground with no staff present. I immediately left and ran to the reception in my robe, didn’t even have a time to change. The receptionist simply apologized and offered me a 50% discount for specific drinks, which cost around 7 euro. No real apology, no responsibility taken and no immediate concern for my safety. When I returned 20 minutes later, the receptionist told me security confirmed a private booking at the spa, something she never mentioned, when giving me the spa access card earlier. I told her I would file a complaint due to how traumatic this was and all she said was: “okay.” This is not how any hotel should handle guest safety or serious complaints. I will absolutely never return here. I strongly advise other travelers, especially women traveling alone, to think twice before booking this hotel. What kind of “private sessions” are being scheduled in your spa while guests are still allowed in? This is completely...

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Tallink City Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and smooth. The service was outstanding, with staff going above and beyond to make us feel at home — a level of professionalism and warmth that you don’t experience every day.
Breakfast was lovely and well presented — fresh, tasty and enjoyable. However, we would have appreciated a bit more variety in the selection, especially for longer stays. That said, everything we did try was of excellent quality.
One of the biggest highlights of our stay was meeting Chef Anatolijs P. from Latvia, along with the hotel’s General Manager. Their genuine hospitality, kindness, and the personal tour they gave us of the hotel made a lasting impression. It’s rare to feel so seen and appreciated as a guest — this is truly a 10/10 hospitality experience.
Another pleasant surprise was the fitness area — the gym exceeded our expectations! Especially the cardio setup, which was one of the most thoughtfully designed and motivating spaces we’ve seen in any hotel so far. Perfect for staying active even while traveling.
Tallink City Hotel is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience made memorable by passionate people and thoughtful details. We will absolutely return and are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for making our...
