One of the worst restaurant experiences, if not the worst. And definitely wort hamburger I have ever tried to eat. Yes I could not take more than 2 bites. The hamburger beef was incredibly chewy and dry. Then I decided to eat with knife and fork and even the fork had troubles cutting eat. You can see how brown the meat is in the picture that I posted. Even with the flash, you cannot see any pink spot in the middle.
I sent the hamburger back and said I do not want a new one because I asked and the waitress said nothing would change. Then she came back and said they can make a 20% discount on the hamburger. When I said I would not pay for something that I had not eaten, she claimed that I ate the half of it already. I do not see how is that possible with 2 bites? They are incredibly arrogant that they cannot even consider the possibility of the hamburger is really bad, but rather they behave like I am some kind of a crook who goes to a restaurant, eats the half of the food and then try not to pay for it...
Anyway, after 2 minutes, the waiter came and put the check on the table very angrily even though we did not ask for the check and my friend was still eating her potatoes. I did not want to argue more so I paid and the waiter said to me that he wishes me happiness and good luck in my life with a sarcastic tone and a smerk?!?!
Seriously, stay away from here! From the staff to the food, you will regret it. There are many many nice places around. They do not deserve any attention and they should understand this as soon...
Read moreLets start with the pro's. The waiter was very friendly and the service was reasonably fast. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm. Unfortunatey the con's are then related with the food which arguably is the main thing. I had a premium burger. I'm not sure if there's no real burger scene in Estonia, but seeing as Amarillo is a Finnish chain, and there certainly is, calling something with a flat industrial ready made patty premium just really doesn't fly anymore. This was like something you get at a cheap burger chain, except larger. Or something you can whip up by going to the store and getting something readymade. It wasn't bad per se, but neither was there anything to write home about. Bland. I was expecting a handmade, medium cooked premium Angus beef for this price, but I guess I was expecting too much. There are a lot of better and cheaper restaurants close by. Even in the middle of the Old Town. For Finns: compares to Scandic burger, Rolls, ABC. Aeon's away from Mr. Döner, Jones's, Stone's or even Naughty burger, Chico's , Friends & Burgers,...
Read moreWe visited Amarillo twice. The 1st time we were informed upon arrival that it will take 1 hour waiting time for the main course, thus ordering of a starter is recommended. Thinking of this might have been a one-time exception, we returned some days later for a 2nd visit. We had to wait 1h40min for the meal. To bring some positive aspects: The food was fresh and authentic. The cocktails were very tasty. The location is an asset, especially for Sokos Viru hotel guests when Tallinn weather is unfavorable. The service is friendly. But the kitchen output is a drama, even though the resto was filled by 50% only. It should be a gold mine, after investing in more qualified cooking personal instead of street workers, increasing capacity, reducing turn-around times of guests and creating real customer satisfaction. This location needs immediate Finnish group...
