This is the written version of a video review made for the Honest Helsinki Hotel Reviews TikTok and Youtube channel. ||Lobby/Reception area ||The Radisson Collection Hotel has often been described as one of the true highlights of Tallinn’s hotel scene — a five-star luxury property that only a few can compete with. This shouldn’t be just another place to sleep, but an oasis, an experience that lingers long after checkout. ||Stepping inside, we were immediately greeted by striking ceiling lights — chandeliers that resembled delicate flower petals — and grand white pillars reminiscent of classical Roman architecture. Blended with modern design elements, the space exuded a luxurious atmosphere, creating the impression that we had arrived at an upper-class hotel. It felt like a preview of the elegance to come. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and in no time, we were on our way to our room. ||Junior suite - 722 - ||Since it was my birthday, I requested a room with a sauna. The lowest category offering one was the Junior Suite, and thanks to my VIP status combined with the birthday celebration, the hotel kindly upgraded us. The suite was beautiful, modern, and immaculately clean. ||The luxury here leaned more towards contemporary design than traditional — instead of chandeliers and classical décor, the room featured darker tones, mood lighting, and sleek finishes, giving it a stylish, modern personality. At the same time, certain touches — like a marble-topped table — added a sense of timeless luxury. The suite came with two large TVs (one in the bedroom, one in the living area), both with streaming capabilities and all the latest bells and whistles. ||From the windows, our view was partly blocked by some less impressive buildings, but we could still spot Tallinn’s Old Town and its churches in the distance. A unique feature of this Junior Suite was the in-room fitness equipment: light kettlebells, resistance bands, a rope pulley machine, and a stationary bike. For fitness enthusiasts, this was a thoughtful addition. ||Some Junior Suites are equipped with a treadmill instead of the bike, so guests who prefer one over the other should make a request in advance. Of course, for more serious workouts, the hotel’s well-equipped gym is the better choice. Initially, I wondered if the fitness gear would spoil the room’s aesthetic, but in fact, it added character and charm. ||Other amenities included a capsule coffee machine, bathrobes, slippers, and a fully stocked minibar. The king-size bed was cozy, with LED lighting underneath — bright enough to help you navigate at night, but soft enough not to disturb your sleep. ||Shortly after arriving, we received a knock at the door. A staff member delivered a thoughtful birthday surprise: a chilled bottle of sparkling wine, a plate of sweets, and a handwritten birthday card. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel truly valued as guests. ||The bathroom was one of the largest I’ve seen in this category. White marble tiles gave it a refined, elegant look. It featured both a rain shower and a bathtub, as well as a spacious sauna that could easily fit a family of four. Radisson Collection toiletries were provided — though in truth, the shampoo and body wash seemed the same as Radisson Blu, just presented in different bottles. There were even a couple of chairs, perfect for cooling down with a drink after enjoying the sauna. ||Overall, it was an exceptionally designed room, perfect for unwinding after a long day of meetings or sightseeing. ||Rooftop Bar - 24th Floor - ||We also visited ISSEI, the hotel’s rooftop bar, for a few evening drinks while taking in the views of Tallinn from above. We both ordered non-alcoholic options, and thanks to our VIP status, we received a 15% discount. ||The bar was crowded and lively, which only highlighted its popularity — not just among hotel guests but also with locals. People were in good spirits, chatting and enjoying their drinks with friends and colleagues.|The views were spectacular. From the rooftop terrace, the Old Town felt even closer than it did from our room. At night, with the city lights twinkling in the distance, Tallinn felt like a bustling metropolis despite its relatively small size. ||Gym ||The gym was fairly spacious and impressively equipped. All the machines and weights looked new and modern, making it easy to keep up with a workout routine while traveling. I especially appreciated the inclusion of heavier dumbbells, which are often missing in many hotel gyms. ||There was also a modern looking water dispenser if you get thirsty while burning the fat or increasing your muscle strength. While it wasn’t the largest hotel gym I’ve seen, it had all the essentials — whether you're into cardio, strength training, or something in between. Importantly, everything felt high quality and well maintained. ||It stood out as one of the better standalone hotel gyms I’ve experienced. Another big bonus is that it’s open 24 hours, so whether you prefer an early morning workout or a late-night session, you can train whenever it suits you best. ||Breakfast ||Breakfast was a real highlight. Sparkling wine was served, instantly setting a luxurious tone. A small but significant touch that instantly elevates the experience. ||The dining room itself was bright, modern, and spacious, while the selection was both abundant and fresh. It’s not always easy to find both variety and quality at a hotel buffet, but here they went hand in hand.|There were plenty of Western classics: sausages, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and more. The pastry section was equally tempting, with donuts, croissants, and a wide variety of sweet treats. ||Even more impressive was the à la carte menu, which went far beyond the usual made-to-order omelet. Options included chia pudding, poached egg with avocado on sourdough, pancakes with caramelized condensed milk, and berry salad, and many other creative dishes— All beautifully presented and full of flavor. ||In my opinion, this was the best breakfast I’ve had in Estonia, and certainly better than most I’ve experienced in neighboring country Finland. While it may not rival the extravagant “breakfast-lunch buffets” I’ve seen in Asia (such as Batam), compared to standard European hotel breakfasts, this was easily among the very best. ||Conclusion ||The Radisson Collection Hotel Tallinn truly lives up to its reputation as one of the city’s finest five-star properties. From the very first moment we stepped into the grand lobby, with its glowing chandeliers and striking Roman-inspired pillars blended seamlessly with modern design, we could sense that this was no ordinary hotel but something very special. ||Our Junior Suite was both stylish and welcoming, combining sleek modern décor with timeless touches. The private sauna, marble finishes, and in-room fitness equipment gave the space a unique character. ||The thoughtful birthday surprise — sparkling wine, plate of sweets, and a handwritten card — was a gesture that elevated our stay from memorable to truly special. ||Beyond the room, the hotel’s facilities continued to impress. The rooftop ISSEI bar buzzed with energy, offering panoramic views over Tallinn that were especially breathtaking at night. The gym, though not massive, was modern and well equipped, clearly designed with serious workouts in mind — something I always value in a hotel. Breakfast was a highlight in itself: not just generous in variety, but refined in quality, with sparkling wine and an excellent à la carte menu that went far beyond the usual offerings compared to many other radisson hotels. ||The spa, from which i was not able to take videos was beautifully designed and undeniably luxurious, it offered a serene escape with its swimming pool, calming Japanese bath, comfortable poolside beds, two saunas, and a steam room. It was the perfect balance of modern elegance and restorative relaxation, a place where time seemed to slow down. It was easy to imagine guests spending hours here, forgetting entirely that they were in the heart of Tallinn. ||All in all, the Radisson Collection strikes an excellent balance between contemporary luxury, comfort, and service. Whether you’re in Tallinn for business, leisure, or a special celebration, it offers far more than just a place to stay — it delivers an experience worth remembering long...
Read moreThe star is because of this problem.Everything going great until Friday14 valantaine night. I spend 10nights at this hotel, 90-100 nights at Radisson during the year travelling throught the world. That night at mekk restaurant at the first floor Ruin my staying and change my humor with all this people. That night I couldn eat at the bar,ok, I asked at mekk resto, and said full booked since one week ago. Im a guest, only one, alone, so I asked if they can allow me to eat that valantine menu, its the same i just wana eat something, but the guy in charge that night say me full booked You can't imposible, many times, I went to talk at reception that night front desk, she knows me as a guest, she told me the same,I asked to talk with the cheff of mekk, so if he allows me to make food for one more person that night it ll be no problem but the resto manager didnt allow and told me he takes desitions there, finally after an hour, I were really upsated, but allways with respect,he told me he ll do a unique fantastic and great exception and allows me to eat that night at mekk resto. Before, they all at first floor told me at the 24floor resto were no place too, fully booked. Well, I didn't want any more to eat at mekk because of that, so I decided for my own to ask at 24floor if they can allow me to eat, and was really full booked. They were happy to stay with them and said me yes of course if You don't mind sit in that table, of course I only wana eat. I allways eat at hotel everyday, I didnt like that situation, i'll allow a guest to eat,no mather is fully booked. There are more people eating at lunch than that night. If you have a person who lives 100days at your home, eat, waste money everyday, and on February 14 you don't allow him to it because its valantines day its not ethic, emphatic, educated, profesional, etc. That people cames one night per year. If you are going to do that, call the guest and tell them one week before they couldn have dinner that night, incredible. Why they allow me to eat at issei resto 24 floor? because that enployees upstair are profesional, they know if You are a guest, only one its not problem, not 20, to have one more dish. Hopefully i ask upstairs resto, if you do what people at front desk and mekk say You must find other outside. And I don't wana eat at my room with room service, i don't like it.For December 25 or 31 I can understand maybe that. So,the next days they kindly invited me to enter at empty mekk resto, thats guys say me come now we have lot of space now, Directors or managers never realise whats happened so I wrote my opinión, so everyone in this hotel will know whats happened to me that valentineday. They offer me to find a resto outside too, sure they ll allow me to eat at other fully resto at hilton or whatever if i'm not a guest for them, but You can go to mc donalds. They made me feel bad about it, so now i need to write this because its the only way I have to be quiet and my mind in peace again. Regards, RAFAEL. P. Julia, Tallinn it the only city in the world who give such importance to valentaines day like December 31 doesnt allow you to eat. I work with big business and company, they don't care about adding one more person because it doesnt change your operational function on the kitchen. Its about reciprocity wich that ones who choose you every year, but you are not gona understand. So You don't know how to manage that, you cant send a guest to eat at mc Donald's with -10 degress outside at 9pm. As i told the hotel, if You come to live to my house for 3or four mounth and at valentines day i'll tell You go to mc Donald's. So if You always doing all perfect correct and propertly you are not going to grow up in your carrer, and the hotel doesnt gona work into an internacional standards like other Radisson in the world. You must now other countries. But allways, they threat us like we don't know nothing about hotel restaurant etc. The hotel need people with more experience. I'll give less point for your answer. One more comensal at your empty...
Read more‘Welcome to the EXCEPTIONAL’ indeed it was but for the wrong reasons.
My recent stay at the Radisson Collection Hotel Tallinn was, regrettably, far below the standards I have come to expect from a five-star establishment and from the Radisson brand.
Upon arrival, an hour before check-in, we were told early check-in wasn't possible because there were no rooms ready. As a regular guest and premium member at Radisson hotels worldwide, this was a surprising and disappointing response, especially being a premium member (although subject to status) we were an hour early - 2pm.
I would like to note while checking in, the guest immediately in front was provided immediate check in.
Seeking a place to relax, we asked where we could have a drink and were directed to a bar outside the hotel. This seemed odd, and after calling Radisson customer services, it was revealed that a high-profile security event was the reason for the bar's unavailability. This crucial information could have saved us a lot of confusion and disappointment had it been communicated upfront. After a six-hour journey, this blunt rejection was quite shocking. I inquired about the possibility of canceling our reservation and moving to another Radisson in the city, but my question was deflected and never directly answered.
We were later offered complimentary drinks and an apology, which helped to some extent. However, the small issues began to accumulate. Despite booking a twin room, we were given a double, indicating a lapse in attentiveness.
That evening we visited the roof terrace bar, on arrival we were asked if we were required the restaurant or the bar, we hadn’t made plans at that stage so asked if we could take a drink at the bar to decide. We were advised the restaurant would be become busy later and best not delay if we wanted a meal opposed to snacks in the bar.
We waited a time to order drinks, when the order was being taken, I asked could we have a bottle of wine to have the first glass on the terrace to enjoy the weather and then move to the restaurant with the wine? We were told it wasn’t possible to dine in the restaurant as we didn’t have a booking, even though only 10 minutes prior we were provided the choice of where to be seated. We forfeited the bottle, had a singular glass and left for a local restaurant to dine & seek a more receptive atmosphere.
A seemingly busy period of fifteen minutes of bookings occurred between the offer to dine and going to the terrace given the emptiness of the restaurant passing to leave.
On our first morning, the lobby coffee machine was out of order, and there was no alternative available in time for our departure.
Returning after a long day, we found that while fresh bottled water was provided, the beds were unmade, and dirty glasses remained. This is not the level of service one expects from a five-star hotel.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Melia Gold, Hilton Gold member, and Radisson premium member, I place great importance on attention to detail. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet the expected standards. The hotel's beautiful presentation was overshadowed by the lackluster service, leaving a tarnished impression.
In future visits to Tallinn, I will likely choose one of the other Radisson hotels or another chain I have status with. The experience at Radisson Collection Hotel Tallinn has, regrettably, damaged my perception of the brand.
Edit: I have personally taken a call Christoph - Director of operations in responce to this review. A true gentleman. His personal apporach and ownership of the occurances show his commitment to resolution. It was a pleasure...
