Our stay at La Tikal was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences we've had. While the hotel itself seemed decent, the service and the way they handle guests left a lot to be desired.
We stayed in room 401, and encountered multiple issues. First, we had no Wi-Fi in the room for the entire week. We reported this issue to the front desk multiple times, but each time we were told that they would "check" or "fix it soon"—yet nothing was ever done. As a result, we had to go to the lobby whenever we needed to use the internet, which was incredibly inconvenient.
Second, when we requested an extra blanket, nobody ever brought one. Again, we followed up multiple times, but they simply ignored our request. For a hotel that claims to be customer-friendly, this was completely unacceptable.
And to top it all off, after we checked out, we received an email stating that we were being charged €50 for leaving ‘trash’ in the room. In reality, we had actually cleaned the room ourselves before leaving, and the only thing we left was some unopened food in the fridge because we didn’t want to waste it. Instead of appreciating this, they used it as an excuse to fine us. When we tried to reason with them, they completely ignored our side of the story and insisted on charging us.
We had hoped for a better experience and fairer treatment, but unfortunately, La Tikal has proven that they care more about squeezing extra money out of their guests than providing good service. We won’t be coming back, and we strongly advise others to...
Read moreWork like airbnb, you get the room. and you should give back clean, make the dishes and take of the trash. The Wi-Fi in the place works terrible, and the staff are not nice. in addition- group of drunks threw snowballs on our balcony at night and it crashed. The reception of the Tikal most of the time did not work so we went to the machu pichu that located in the opposite side (same owner) and we explained what happened. When we got there we discovered that we already been charged€ 451 for the damage we had not done .We talked to the hotel reception manager, a girl named Charlotte, and she was very rude cause we told her what happened and she saw that we were nervous from the situation and the charge and she laughed in front of our face, she said that is our fault even we made all the things we can: ( take photos, recorded conversation with the police in the middle of night) i had never seen such opacity in my life.. In the end after conversation with the manager of the hotel- they returned the money. they cannot cancel the charge of the credit card so they gave us cash. we lost 17 euros cause exchange rate , and they don't want to give us more money for that. I highly recommend not to go near this hotel or to the Machu Pichu and I sure if we not was fighting with them we not was get the money back, the time we spent was really to much for speak...
Read moreI’ve traveled to many places, but my stay at La Tikal was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
First, the Wi-Fi in the room never worked, and no one at the hotel seemed to care. Every time we asked about it, they brushed us off and said they would fix it, but it never happened. We had to go down to the lobby every time we needed internet, which was a huge inconvenience.
Second, when we asked for an extra blanket, nobody ever responded. We made multiple requests, but the staff completely ignored us. It felt like they didn’t care about their guests at all.
But the real problem started after we checked out. A few days later, we received an email saying that we were being charged €50 for leaving ‘trash’ in the room. This was completely unfair because we had cleaned the entire room before leaving. The only thing we left behind was some unopened food in the fridge, which we thought could be useful rather than wasteful. Instead of appreciating this, they used it as an excuse to charge us.
The way this hotel handled the situation was unacceptable. They ignored us when we needed help, but when it came to charging us extra money, they suddenly had time to respond.
I do not recommend staying at La Tikal. There are many better hotels where you’ll be treated with respect and fairness. Avoid this place...
