We booked the half board with Sun Web for £210 pp. per week, and we felt this was excellent value. Each night a different menu was offered, including some Savoie specialities such as raclette and cheese and beef fondu. The half board includes three courses, which are each interchangeable. There is also an alternative menu which you can order from which includes pizzas, pastas, salads and others. Given that the average price of a main is around 25-30 euros in Val Thorens, I would say this was well worth the money. Note that the half board does not include drinks, but we found the drinks to be reasonably priced comparable to other local restaurants. Finally, the main reason for the five stars was the staff. They were friendly, accommodating and attentive, even though the restaurant is often very busy. The staff were also more than happy for us to take away our food to our hotel free of charge on one of the evenings. Special thanks to Karen, Nathan and Flora. Would definitely recommend the half board, and for a...
Read moreHad a pretty poor meal here, I suspect the root problem is that they're understaffed.
I went with a group, the waiter seemed flustered and confused. We ordered steaks and a stone for cooking meat, one of the party changed their steak to medium from medium rare and the waiter needed to delete the entire order and start again.
The steaks arrived and the waiters didn't know which was which, some of us ordered a side of potato gratain and they gave it instead of our chips, so when we figured out which steak was which the waiter suggested we scrape the potato gratain on to the other plate...
The stone arrived cold at the same time as all the steaks, it took 20 minutes to get hot enough to cook so we we're all finished by the time it was usable so one person was left watching us eat.
We weren't asked if we would like to taste the house red, it was just plopped on the table no pouring or anything.
I raised this all with the manager but he didn't...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience here. They are totally unequipped to deal with the numbers that come here. The baldy head of front is totally rude and un helpful. We regularly waited over an hour to get food. On one occasion we were quite literally shouting across the restaurant to get the attention of the waiter AND THEY STILL IGNORED US, we had to leave our seats and literally confront them to ask them to bring the pot of oil for our meat fondue(no idea what this is actually called), which involved a gas cooker that was left LIT on our table for 25 minutes before the oil was added. We have had nothing bit bad experience after bad experience. We should note that we were half board, I believe this is why they treated us so poorly compared to other guests. Literally a disgrace. The food quality is pretty average, and very poor compared to other restaurants in Val Thorens, which has a high...
