The service was horrible, different waiters said different things, and the general effort from the staff was lackluster which lead to long waiting times. We had to go up and take our menus by ourselves, and had to ask plenty of times if we could please order our food. 5 guests we knew at an neighboring table ordered the same sharing type of meal and when it came they were told I was for 3 people, only to later find out that it was actually for all of them and that even though one waiter had told them they would get more meat, another waiter comes and tells them that, no, they couldn't get any more, even though it was the waiters who made the mistake, of saying something completely wrong. Those who ordered steaks found out that the chef didn't know the difference between medium and rare, only to find that there clearly wasn't enough sauce. While it's fair that extra sauce costs more, it's not fair that the extra sauce that costs extra is both thin, tasteless and nowhere near the same quality of the first portion. To top off the night we ordered dessert which in this case were creme brulee, where you get three creme brulee with different flavors, all of which tasted fine but neither of them had the right texture, they were all thin and wet. All in all it is clear that the kitchen can make food to some degree (while not perfect it tasted fine), but when the waiters lack all of the traits a waiter should, the whole night is...
Read moreThe head waiter is a man of many talents. Although his job title may be deceiving he is in fact a qualified: electrician, radio operator, dog handler and psychiatrist.
Hopefully he is also a qualified firefighter, this building is likely the next Notre Dame. Rustic wood adorns all walls which makes the atmosphere lovely, however the series of electrical problems which plagued our raclette heater however bode poorly for the buildings longevity as a wooden monument.
The waiter however used his superb psychiatric skills to make sure all tables were well tended to as the breakers had a fit behind our heads.
The raclette was perfectly portioned between the three of us each able to stuff our faces with incredible cold meats and perfectly boiled potatoes smothered in deliciously melted cheese. Pizza was ordered by others in our party and very well received, we can whole heartedly recommend the Forestière.
As a group of Englishmen tea is of course a topic of good conversation and the tea served was considered exemplary. The tea cups were splendid and without spoiling them are worth a visit within themselves.
All of the puddings served were wonderful the Tarte-tatin was the star of the show creatively presented and...
Read moreService and wait times were awful. Not sure if we got unlucky or they were under-staffed. Booked a table for 8, ordered drinks, starters and mains each. Drinks took around 20 minutes, then three peoples starters came out after about 40 minutes. Because it was taking so long we asked for another round of drinks. We timed an hour and 30 minutes for the final starter to come out and it came out with the main courses! When 3 people ordered the steak it came out cold, so was sent back. The bar man (who turned out to be the manager) had the cheek to say, the delays were because we were ordering to many drinks. Which was 8 to begin with, then a further 6 after 45-60 minutes of waiting for our food. The food overall was actually okay (apart from the cold steaks), the atmosphere was pleasant. After the manager agreed to give us 30% off the bill because of the situation. Couldn’t tell if they were under-staffed or what but overall...
