Unfortunately, we write this review following the most traumatic “holiday” we could have imagined. Our apartment was entered during the first night of our stay, the perpetrator making off with our phones, money, bags… pretty much every valuable possession bar our clothes. We originally booked this apartment for the location – 5 minutes’ walk from the train station (perfect for travelling) and only 15 minutes from the beach. This was the case, however the town past the train station felt very insecure. Rubbish lined the streets and gangs of people stood on street corners. Many times, it felt like we were being followed whilst walking to the apartment, and often a group of people would be stood around the door, which was secured by a key code only. Inside, the corridor was dark and had a damp smell, with a single spiral staircase up to the rooms. Our room itself (No. 311) appeared well-kept, until you looked more closely and discovered a lack of thorough cleaning, very poor considering the cleaning fee is 35 EUR on top of the original booking price. Further to this, you find out only upon arrival that you are required to clean the kitchen yourself before you leave, which may explain the poor cleanliness of the kitchenware provided. Additionally, the kitchen lacked basic equipment, such as baking trays and measuring jugs, but more vitally, no oven gloves were provided. Despite appearing modern, the efficiency of the hob and oven was low, meaning it took a very long time to cook any kind of food. The microwave was unnecessarily complicated with no instructions, rendering it almost useless. The fire safety of the building was very poor. The windows were covered with bars and wooden shutters, preventing them being used as a means of escape, and there was no alternative route should the single staircase become blocked. Fire doors were not fitted, and despite the apartment having a smoke alarm, never once did we see it flash to prove it was working. The room contained a safe. However, no instructions on how to work it were provided (we were given instructions for the key safe outside the room, but not for the main safe inside). By the time we realised this, we couldn’t contact Florella, and thus couldn't use it on our first night, when we really needed it. The bathroom did meet expectations. However, the building had a clear issue with water pressure, meaning if you wanted a warm shower you had to deal with a dribble of water, and to run hot washing up water in the kitchen required a huge amount of patience. The boiler situated in our bathroom made frequent, loud noises throughout the night. The bed in the apartment had been advertised as a double or two singles. This was indeed the case with the actual beds. However, all that was provided was a double mattress and a duvet, therefore it was not possible to have single beds in the apartment and thus it should not have been advertised as such. Overall, the only main positive of the apartment was the efficient air conditioning unit! The last two nights became even more unpleasant by frequent knocks on the door at around 11PM. The apartment owners claimed this to be “security” which we had not seen on our first two nights, but to have security checking on guests at this time of night felt both unprofessional and uncomfortable. The staff were kind in letting us use the phones in their offices each day to contact home post-robbery, as well as changing the locks, although they did also show a notable lack of surprise or concern when we told them what had happened, suggesting this is not an uncommon experience. We were very disappointed with our entire stay overall, and certainly would not want anyone else to go through the ordeal of the week that we have. Our advice: look for accommodation on the beach side of the train station; it may be more expensive, but it is in a far safer and more comfortable area, and we don’t want anyone else to experience what we have at...
Read moreGreat place to stay in. Open kitchen with all the electronics, tv (only french channels), one double bed and big sofa bed in the living room area) eating table with chairs, wifi, etc.. It is very close to the popular places in Cannes, and only 5 minute walk to the famous french riviera beach (la croisette). We were 3 adults and had two floors. We also had a terrace with a table and chairs. And the most important thing of all was the aircondition! It was nice and chilly every day in the apartment after long hot days outside. There are no elevator, just a heavy circular stair to get up in the apartment. Small WC area, but big shower. And if you have a second floor, the wooded stair up was not safe for young kids, (or anyone if you don't watch your step. Don't know if the other apartments have the same stairway). All in togheter,...
Read moreSo I was a tad weary of this place after reading reviews but WOW was my experience wonderful here. First of all - the price is amazing. It's only a 6-10 minute walk to the touristy area and beach.
The hotel itself is great. A perfect little studio for a single traveler or a couple. My boyfriend and I had no problem with the area (not loud or filled with fights like other reviews said). It's also fully equipped with a kitchen with cooking utensils and cleaning supplies included! I highly recommend this hotel and will more than likely return for my next stay in Cannes.
I'd also like to add that the staff was very kind and helpful and let us stow our bags in their office before we could check...
