My family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights in September from Tuesday through Sunday. We were on a 3 week trip staying in 5 different apartments/hotels throughout France and Switzerland. Our group consisted of me, my husband, and our 2 children under 5 years old. First off, we have traveled extensively as a couple before we had children, so having the kids with us did not make too much of a difference in the review I am writing. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is my first bad review of a place in all our travels. The two positives I will state is that it is very close to the beach and where they hold the film festival and the automatic shutters made it nice and dark. However, there are 2 decent 2 star hotels on the street we were on for the same amount we paid and I would highly look into those first before Residence Chryseis. We had no check in information, so we called when we were getting close. The lady my husband and mother-in-law (from France and was in the area) talked to on the phone was fairly rude when we were asking for information where to park our car (drove down from Annecy and would be returning the car that night.) She was of no help at all. When we arrived, she took us to another building a block away that they also own. We had the 4th floor, which would have been fine if I had known earlier that there was no elevator, not even under repair. The 4th floor is actually like double floors, so about 8 flights of stairs. This was a problem for us with the 4 year old and 19 month old. It was also very inconvenient because of my 74 year old mother in law who had a very difficult time getting up the stairs to visit us. I purposely booked a place with a lift for this reason. Once in the apartment, it took about 10 minutes with our shoes off when I noticed my daughter's socks were completely black. I then looked at our bare feet-black as well. I'm pretty sure no one ever cleaned the floors before we got there. This was also evident by the musty smelling bedding and towels that were left for us. The double bed was 2 twins pushed together on a metal frame. The 2 beds curved into the middle, so when sleeping, you would roll into the middle crack. When in the kitchen, it lacked any sort of utensils to cook with-no hot pads, dish towel, bread knife, etc. It had a few mismatched cups, no wine glasses (weird for France), one semi-sharp knife that was bent, and one bowl. We washed our few dishes with our hands as the sponge left for us was black with mold. We were under the impression we had a washer and dryer, but only had a washer. Again, this wouldn't be that awful, but then there was no clothes rack to hang anything on. We took the few hangers in the room and hung the clothes by the drapery rods. We were only left 1.5 rolls of toilet paper so we ran out before our 5 days were up. We had to buy more and left some behind. Same with the 1 garbage bag we had. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and into the hallway. The railing up to the loft bedroom was very unsteady and if I pushed a little too hard, I'm sure I would have broken it right off. Last, the blind up in the loft for the skylight we had to rig with a hanger to get it to stay down. Honestly, if they spent a little money on some dishes/utensils at Ikea, did some minor repairs, and cleaned after the last person left, it would be a decent place to stay. Oh, and the websites should state facts accurately such as the dryer and the lift. Otherwise, again, go with a hotel...even a cheap one. You are...
Read moreThe worst accomodation I ever seen! At 4 pm rooms were not ready, while checkout is at 10am, so the lady asked us to return in 1hr. She promissed us to bring our luggages, as theres no elevator, but she never did and she left my luggage outside, in the street! So rude this lady at the check in and she speaks no english! DO NOT EVER book with them! there is a hotel next to it, great and helpful staff and the gentleman from the reception is so helpful and speaks perfect english! We booked a suite and we had the smallest and dirtiest room that I ever seen in my life, and she said that we paid already and this is what we receive in 160euros! A complete nightmare, the only good thing was the location, but I would preffer to sleep in the street, rather in this disgusting accomodation and deal with this kind of people! If you wanna waste your money, mood and energy-book here, its a robery and a scam! Shame on you, for renting this at this prices and u give nothing in exchange! Zero customer service and a lack of care for people that visits your place! DO NOT BOOK This place in...
Read moreThe picture of apartment paced on Booking.com is very far from reality (perhaps it is the only renovated room there). The furniture and equipment were old and the room was not very clean. The hot plate heats up very slowly. It looks like that the owners do not care much about the guests, good location of the apartments (right in the city centre) , probably, is supposed to compensate all the inconveniences of...
