I will start this review by saying we had a wonderful stay (we visited as a family of 4). I read some of the reviews and was apprehensive, but it is more a case of whether the hotel is for you or not. For us, it was fantastic.
The rooms are small, as are the bathrooms, but the rooms are clean and serviced daily and the bathrooms were renovated (this should be expected in the old part of Paris). There is a safe in the room and a closet. There is also a large tv on the wall. The light fixtures in my room were very cool, similar to the metro station entrances in style. You will want to put your clothes in the closet so that you can stow the luggage in a corner and leave it there. The bathroom is actually larger than I expected for the room size. It was clean, and plenty of room to move around. I have been in much smaller bathrooms. There is no shower per say.. just a small bath with a shower handle that you can use to clean yourself which we didn't find to be an issue.
Because we were a family if 4, the hotel gave us connecting rooms at the end of the hall. It was perfect, as we could have the kids in one room and we were in the other. If you are travelling as a family ask about the connecting rooms.
The elevator is small, so if you have a lot of luggage, you will need to make multiple trips. Except for when we were moving luggage or just exhausted, we often used the stairs even though we were on the 4th floor (5th floor in North American terms). However, we never had to wait for the elevator when we did use it.
The lobby is fresh and clean with nice chairs to sit. The hotel has wifi that was free, you just need to request your access for each device and it worked for the entire stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is decent, but not included. …€17 for the full buffet which consists of scrambled eggs, sausage, small pancakes, beans as well as yogurt, fruit and baguette. There is also a nice coffee machine where you can get a macchiato or cappuccino, or espresso. (There is a €7 express breakfast if you just want continental). If you have the breakfast or not, it was so nice to wake to the smell of fresh croissants in the hallway!!
The location of the hotel is phenomenal. It is right at one of the train stations (Les Halles) and the metro (Châtelet). The amount of transit choices you have are endless. The hotel is also surrounded by restaurants and bars. You can always find something good to eat within a few feet of the hotel, and there is a huge shopping mall underground at the Les Halles station exit. You can also walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Left Bank, etc in a few minutes.
So, if you prefer a large room, full shower, and spacious facilities you may be more content looking out of the old central area, or you might find some pricier hotels in the centre that have larger rooms (but I have stayed at chain hotels in Paris which the rooms were only slightly larger and the location was not as desirable). Also, don't expect a quiet environment as the area is a bustling neighbourhood that is active until late in the evening.. this neighbourhood is very active and vibrant, and consequently not quiet. It's the city centre and we loved this.
In summary.. small clean rooms in an amazing bustling active location in the heart of Paris with awesome access to transit...
Read moreMy husband and I just stayed here for a week, Sept 24-30, and were very happy with our experience! The staff was very helpful and the location was perfect for fast access to so much--the metro, taxis, and walking distance to amazing sites to see--Notre Dame, St. Chappelle Cathedral, the Louvre and Tuelleries Gardens, St. Eustache Cathedral, and the George Pompidou Museum! I had to meet my friend's daughter, who also came to Paris one day while we were there, and Jasmine, at the front desk, persisted in her efforts to call a cab for me, so I could meet up at her hotel, even while assisting other guests, and then having the driver come in to bring me to the vehicle, so I didn't have to stand outside at the street to wait. Fernando, also at the front desk, was truly a star! When I returned with my friend, they even conversed in Spanish together and he helped us, calling a taxi for her later, after we had dined out, so she could now return to her hotel, and spoke with the driver to share our wishes she would arrive back safely. We felt like we had made a friend! Mohammed and another young man, I regret I can't remember his name, were also very helpful, overseeing the continental breakfast every morning, making sure we could find what we needed. The cleaning staff did a great job with our rooms each day too. Jasmine and another person were at the desk on our day of departure, and again, called us a taxi to take us to the airport. Such a helpful and courteous staff--they really made us feel welcomed and comfortable for our stay. They are truly assets to your hotel and make it feel like home!
The circular staircase, with houndstooth carpeting and circle patterns on the walls was a treat too! So unique! And we loved that our room had a view of the street life below, and really appreciated the small fridge right in the room to store our bottles of water or leftovers we brought back one night. The wifi access worked well and we loved the charming 2-man sized glass-walled elevator too! So thank you for a lovely experience. The hotel and your staff will be a big part of our happy memories of Paris! Merci beaucoup! ----...
Read moreI actually booked and intended on staying at their sister hotel ( Hotel Le Lapin Blanc) but, due to COVID they had to close, so we were transferred to Hotel Des Ducs D'Anjou and were SO HAPPY they did! We had a FABULOUS time! I give it 5 stars and would go back again tomorrow! Here's why: The hotel is perfectly located right smack in the middle of everything - you walk outside the door and you are just steps from all cafes, restaurants, shopping, tourist sites, metro, mall, night life, etc. etc. I couldn't have picked a better location. It was very safe as well - during all times of the day and night. The hotel staff are AMAZING!!! Honestly, as my first time in Paris I was afraid Parisians would be rude to Americans (that's what most Americans told us) but Yasmine and Pierre at the front desk were like family and bent over backwards to help us with anything and everything (and I mean everything, from calling a cab and helping us bring our luggage to the cab, to printing out directions to a restaurant, to working out booking snafus from Booking.com, to COVID test guidance, etc. etc.) They were SO sweet, accommodating, funny, friendly and just fantastic!! We adored them! Room for 3 people was a suite and it was extremely clean and nice sized. It was a double bed and a murphy pull down double bed - both were comfy and cozy. The only weird thing for us was there was no shower ... there was a tub with a shower nozzle and no curtain or shower door. You had to hold the shower nizzle to wash yourself - at first I was like "what??" but it was FINE and we managed and had no issue - the water got a little outside the tub but otherwise it was fine (if you are disabled or older, it may pose an issue). But, we were in PARIS so who cared if we had to hold a shower nozzle to wash?! :) Elevator is very small - only fits 1-2 people without luggage and 1 person with luggage. But again, would not stop me from booking here again. Did I mention Yasmine and Pierre were AMAZING! I would go back here a million times over - it made my first time in Paris with my 2 daughters just...
