If you are Asian and have a toddler, do not go to this restaurant. Our first visit to this restaurant started out well. We had a toddler with us they offered her fries on the house, we had a bottle of wine and our appetizers came. We waited about 2 hours, appetizers and bottle of wine long finished. We did not want to be obnoxious tourists so we quietly waited for our mains. Nobody came to check on us. We called over a waiter they and thought we wanted our bill. We could see the kitchen being cleaned so it was obvious they forgot our dinner. They said the kitchen was closed and they apologized, said our bill was on the house, and invited us to come back and that our next meal would be on them. We did not make a fuss (mistakes happen), they made a new reservation for us a couple days later, and we left. Flashforward to our second visit. We arrive, none of the staff that were working the previous night were on hand. The two women working (6pm this passed Saturday) asked us if we had a reservation. I tried to explain what happened our last visit thinking maybe there was a note on the booking. She had no idea what I was talking about. Spoke in French to the other women, looked annoyed, and as I tried to explain to the other women what happened she just said you booked for 2 but there are 3 of you. They have to figure out if they can fit us and she also added they don't have share plates for the toddler. We seemed to be an imposition. I explained to her that the booking was made by their staff who obviously knew we were coming with a child. For context there were currently only two tables currently at the restaurant the rest was empty. I said we sat in the corner last time (a table which was currently empty). She said that table will be needed in two hours for a party of 5. I found myself explaining that we would be done by then, but then backtracked as they invited us back as an apology for having us wait two hours and completely forgetting our dinner which in hindsight we realized was not a mistake (as nobody even checked on us). At this point we felt so unwelcome and that we were an imposition we left. It was the worst experience of our trip. We met so many friendly and kind people in Paris, but do not go to this restaurant if you do not want to experience some of the stereotypes made of parisiennes. Totally unacceptable. I would have given zero stars...
Read moreOur dining experience at this charming Parisian restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance, highlighted by rustic decor and elegant table settings, set the tone for an unforgettable meal.
We started with an array of appetizers that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. The highlight was undoubtedly the foie gras, perfectly creamy like butter that paired well with the baguette. The creamy burrata with vibrant, juicy tomatoes, was another standout, offering a perfect balance of richness and acidity.
The main course featured a beautifully grilled sausage laid atop a velvety bed of mashed potatoes aligoo, drizzled with a savory gravy that tied the dish together wonderfully. The sausage was cooked to perfection, boasting a crisp exterior and a juicy, flavorful interior, while the mashed potatoes were smooth, buttery, and comforting.
We ended the night with French toast and vanilla ice cream. It was truly an experience as melted butter, gooey ice cream, and warm bread made its way inside.
The attention to detail in both the presentation and the flavors truly set this meal apart. Each bite was a testament to the skill and passion of the kitchen. Moreover, the service was attentive yet unobtrusive, making us feel well-cared for throughout the evening.
This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Parisian dining experience that beautifully marries tradition with contemporary culinary artistry. We will undoubtedly be returning on our next...
Read moreOur first meal in Paris- and the most memorable.
The complimentary bread and butter was simple, yet very delicious and we had to stop ourselves from eating all of it before our appetizer arrived. (The bread is nice and crusty- I personally found it a bit hard to chew.)
The os a moëlle(beef bone marrow) was very rich and buttery, although I thought it could've benefit from a bit of crushed pepper other than salt. But I will note that we were served two bones instead of one; the waitress explained that one of the pieces was a bit lacking, hence the extra one. So thanks to the kitchen and waitstaff for their kindness.
For our main dishes, we ordered saucisse purée(sausage with mashed potatoes) and blanquette de veau(veal in white stew). The rice that came with the blanquette was a bit dry but did not diminish the meal. There is an extra charge to upgrade the mashed potatoes into aligot, which is essentially cheese-y mashed potatoes; but with a very smooth and wonderful texture and a great taste. There was also a delicious roasted clove of garlic atop my aligot!
We did not order dessert, as the meal was quite filling. The workers were very helpful and cheerful, and the shopfront very cute. I would highly recommend the saucisse aligot, and I will definitely...
