Hidden Gem French Restaurants in Paris (Frequented by Locals)

** GLUTEN FREE REVIEW ** We went after a lot of googling as my pregnant wife NEEDED to eat French cuisine this evening but we needed to find a real French restaurant that would definitely cater to my gluten free needs. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. The owner (I think) attended to us as we had an allergy. She was thoroughly knowledgeable about which meals were gluten free and was able to cite them for us. She was approachable and friendly and we felt comfortable to ask questions. We chose the sea bream with vegetables and courgette spaghetti as well as the duck leg with garlic potatoes and salad. The duck did come with bread on the side that wasn't gluten free as it was for my wife but the dish itself is gluten free. For dessert we chose the cheese board and the creme brulee. There was multiple options for dessert. We didn't actually ask about starters or main as we opted not to have a starter and basically stated the main we would like and checked if they were gluten free. Both meals were delicious. The sea bream tasted incredibly fresh and melted in your mouth, the vegetables were so flavourful and I enjoyed every mouthful. The duck was equally delicious and came off the bone with ease. The meat was flavourful and paired well with both the potatoes and the salad which was dressed beautifully. The cheese platter was enjoyable. It was a variety of 4 cheeses and came with butter and salad. As an Englishman, I feel it could have benefitted from a selection of fruits, gluten free bread or any other accompaniment. I felt I would have enjoyed the cheeses far more as it would have helped bring out their distinct flavours. Nethertheless, it was exactly as advertised and I shouldn't be so picky lol! The creme brulee on the other hand was fantastic. I could have eaten it every night. Price wise, starters varied from €10-€19 each, mains from €19-€28 and desserts from €10 each. Both our mains were €19 and both desserts were €10. We also got a wine, a bottle of evian still water and a coke. In total we spent €88 and in my opinion it was worth every penny. The food is so cheap considering it's quality! I would definitely eat here again and enjoy it just as much. I left feeling full and satisfied and the wife was equally as pleased.

I am a chef in New York and Le Saotico was recommended to me by a close friend as the quintessential French experience. I am very fussy and a born sceptic. We went in for lunch and ordered their prix fixe offering. The lentil salad with a perfectly poached egg and lightly dressed greens was bright yet aromatic. It was practically a meal by itself. What followed blew us away. The wild salmon floating on top of braised fennel and carrots and other veggies was sumptuous and each element was perfectly cooked. Dessert was an amazing fruit salad. The presentation was very precise. We demolished every morsel. The neighborhood is very cool and the interior is very romantic. The owners Anne & Hugues came by our table for a chat and were perfectly charming. The best part is how reasonable the cost was for this level of culinary skill and service. This is a true farm-to-table restaurant. You could taste the freshness in everything they served. This is now a must stop in Paris for us. Highly recommended.

Ripping off foreigners. We didn't order cafe gourmant but only cafe. But they served cafe gourmant and got us to pay for it. I ordered three coffee and creme Brule. It is no sense for me to order cafe gourmant with creme Brule. I didn't even know the concept of cafe gourmant and they have this in menu. It is totally nonsensical that ordered what I didn't even know they have. They just ripped off customers. I complained. The owner deducted one cafe gourmant but we got paid two cafe gourmant. She said it is the compromise. So arrogant because they have no right to impose undue costs on customers.

Answer to the reply of the restaurant ㅇ you brought the black board written with menus. But you never explained the dessert at all. It was written in English and we can read it. Your side didn't explain plats either. We showed the pictures of what we would like to have in Google review to make an order. We did not refer to the black board. ㅇ we were not 4. We were 3. The ghost was sitting with us? Why did we order 3 cafe if we were 4? The basic fact was wrong. ㅇ I questioned what these cookies were when the waitress brought them with cafe. She did not speak English at all. I said we ordered only creme Bruelle as dessert, not these small cookies. She just no replied. I said "are they included?" She just noded without any words. In this situation, do I have to refuse again? ㅇ I have never ordered cafe gourmant for the lifetime. I have lived in Europe for 2 years. I have never got it for myself. ㅇ at first, I ordered cafe normal, not aspresso. But the waitress brought aspresso. So I said I ordered cafe normal. Then she brought cafe normal. Look! I never say cafe gourmant.

The restaurant is keeping making an excuse for their mistake instead of acknowledging it. It is not remembering basic fact ㅡhow many people we are. Is...

TOURISTs LOOK HERE: Let me write an honest and unbiased review so you guys can really improve rather than trapping tourists. We came across this restaurant because it was closed to where we stayed as well as the insanely high reviews.

Service was friendly but was really pushy in making you order more and we understand this tactic, I am in sales. Also, it takes way too long to attend to you when you’re waiting for plates to be clear for the next dish or even asking for the bill.

Food: tasteless, bland and not worth the value. I’ve never used so much salt and pepper dining in a restaurant before. I’ve overheard a few of patrons around our table and they were very disappointed too. TBH, the side dish (potato’s and veggies tasted better than the duck and fish)

We paid the bill and left a big note expecting a change, it was a few Euros but I was hesitant in leaving a tip after the experience but they did not came back.

Writing reviews: I realized they had a really high rating which is really suspicious, especially having an experience like this, I can almost assure you this will be an easy 3+ stars but you see all the top rated reviews. They made you scan the code in restaurant powered by Malou.io, which is an app that filters lower rating reviews and converted the higher ones. So I would assume they will only post the higher reviewed as another table was “pressured” to leave a review as well.

Conclusion: I think there’s a lot of room to improve and I hope they take some effort to...
