We stayed at Prince Regent two separate times on our recent trip to France broken by an excursion to Normandy. Our trip unfortunately corresponded with an impressive heat wave with temperatures in the 90s. We had tried to convince ourselves while planning our trip we could do without air conditioning. We are so very glad we did not. The Prince Regent has Mitsubishi individual room air conditioners, and they work well.
Our group consisted of me, my wife, and our the children ages 19, 17, and 11. The room was incredibly spacious with a "master" bedroom with a bed big enough for me and my wife, and I'm 6'4" tall. Our two daughters stayed in the other room fitted with two single beds. Our son used the foldout in the living room that converted to the size of a queen bed and was very comfortable.
Not that you would likely use it, the room is equipped with a fully functional kitchen including a dishwasher. There is also a small clothes washing machine in the kitchen. The hotel provides soap pods for both.
An ironing board and iron are provided as well. There's a separate toilet and a very fine shower with a rain shower head in the ceiling. There is plenty of closet space.
Breakfast is brought to your room on time at any time of your choice between 7-10. The continental we ordered daily provided more than enough delicious breads, yogurt, juice, butter, and preserves.
We had occasion twice to need a shuttle arranged by the front desk staff. I'm sorry I don't recall her name because she was excellent, but both times the van was early. Both drives were uneventful and professionally performed. Our driver to CDG on our day of departure even helped us take our luggage to the airline check in desk.
We found the location to be superior for our needs. A 5 minute walk gets you to the nearest Metro station (Odeon). We were close to the Latin Quarter if not just inside it. We easily walked to Notre Dame, the Cluny museum, LeMarais, and other sites/areas.
When we were pressed to find something to eat near the hotel, we found Le Prince Racine (French bistro) a half block away and Saigon d'Anton (Vietnamese) about three doors down were both very good.
We would, without doubt, stay at Le Prince...
Read moreOut of our 2.5 weeks trip, this is the best hotel we stayed at. Highly recommend! I researched probably 30 hotels and this is one of the few that fit my criteria (Have AC, elevator, convenient location and apartment style- we didn’t want to do air b&b). We arrived in the morning and the room was not ready since the hotel was sold out and check in is not till 3pm. They stored our luggages for us and when we got back later in the day, they have already brought all our stuff to the room. So thankful for that since we were all exhausted from a day of travel and sightseeing. We got the 3 bedrooms and it was perfect for 4 adult and 2 kids. Our room is on the top floor, so it gets tiring going up the stairs after a long day. There is a small elevator but can only fit 2 adults. In the apartment, the dinning room, kitchen, toilet, shower room and a bedroom are on the first floor. Second floor is the second bathroom with a bath tub and the other two bedrooms. The third bedroom is not a true bedroom, it’s more a loft with two twin beds and a desk, which works fine for our kids. The one minor complain I have is we are not bath people, so we all end up using the walk in shower on the first floor. The second bathroom ceiling is vaulted and there is no shower curtain so hard to take a shower without getting water everywhere. You can order room service for breakfast but we didn’t do that. We got breakfast food from the store. There is a store right across from the hotel but there are couple convenience/ groceries stores close by (including Monoprix). There are tea kettles and nespresso machine in the kitchen. Tea and coffee are complimentary. We really enjoyed having a relaxing morning at the hotel and everyone has room to chill.
The metro and bus stops are only a few minutes walk from the hotel. There are tons of great restaurants nearby. We love that the street is quiet but close to all the touristy spots (Luxembourg Garden, Patheon, Notre Dame). If we ever go back to Paris, we would definitely stay there again. Have already recommended this place to a few people who are planning their...
Read moreRésidence & Spa Le Prince Régent was the perfect fit for our family. My husband and almost 2 year old daughter stayed here at the end of June in one of the family suites (2 bed/2 bath). The room functioned as a spacious apartment, while having the luxury of daily house cleaning. We were spoiled with how much space we had in addition to a ton of closets! We stayed during an exceptionally hot week in Paris, and though the AC throughout wasn't super cool, the bedrooms each had their own units and were cool at night with the doors closed (units get down to 19 degrees Celsius). With all the hot weather and walking it was an added bonus to have the washer dryer in the unit (though I'm still confused on to properly work it) and it was nice to have the kitchen so we could do dishes for our daughter and a lunch after a day at the market.
The day we arrived in Paris, our daughter got sick and ended up throwing up on the cab ride over to the hotel. The staff was kind enough to let us use the spa to shower bc our room wasn't yet ready.
Additionally, the hotel is located across the street from a convenience store where we bought waters and milk as well as a wine bar where we purchased wine to go a few nights.
Overall, everything worked out great and we were really happy to have found and chosen Résidence & Spa Le Prince Régent to stay at during our first visit to Paris. If we return, we'd love to stay here again. It was really convenient for us!
Pros: Location (walkable to many things/near wine bar and convenience store if things are needed), lots of space, friendly and attentive staff, reasonably priced, spa on site, house cleaning, located on a quiet 1-way street.
Cons: the elevator (lift) is super tiny. We had to carry our stroller up 3 flights of winding stairs each time we came back-not a deal breaker but was difficult with the heat...
