Wow - where to begin? DON'T STAY HERE!
I booked a room for the last 2 nights of a European vacation through Hotwire. Upon arrival, my family and I noticed that the room was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. None of the old-world charm that the pictures online suggested, instead it was rife with stains, holes in the wall, peeling wallpaper, rust, BROKEN GLASS on the floor of the bathroom, a closet door that couldn't close because the lock had been broken with the bolt sticking out, rubbish (an old bottle) under one of the beds. These are all documented in the PHOTOS BELOW.
Then, the next day, after a long day out around Paris, we came home at about 6pm to find our hotel room DOOR WIDE OPEN, wedged with a towel shoved underneath it. It had been open for anyone to walk in all day long, since the cleaning staff left it open, presumably that morning. I alerted the staff member at the front desk, he came to the room to have a look, and said: "Yes, I think that must have been the cleaning staff." Not an apology, not a promise to look into the matter. So I ask to speak with the manager and I'm told there's no manager on site until 7am the next morning. At 7am the next morning, I go to the front desk to find the manager, only to be told he/she is not in until 10am. We were due to check out at 8am. The worker at the desk, different to the one the night before, knew about the incident, was apologetic, but told me to take it up with Hotwire seeing as there was no manager in the building. He, very inappropriately, roped in the cleaning lady and questioned her in front of me. She admitted that she'd left the room door wedged open all day, but was very irritable when I pointed out that there was broken glass in the bathroom. She insisted she'd cleaned it. TOTAL LIE.
We left the hotel not ever having seen a manager on site, but glad that I had documented the entirety of my disgust with the hotel. Then, after lengthy conversations with Hotwire about compensating me for not holding up their end of the bargain (whereby I pay a hefty fee for a clean and safe room and they provide neither), they tell me that they'll call the hotel and follow up with me. Sure enough they did and they tell me that the hotel has denied there was any incident. TOTAL LIE.
Look through the pics below and ask yourself if you'd feel comfortable sleeping in a room like this. Then wonder what it would be like if people were able to walk into your room all day while you're out because the staff have left your door propped wide open. Then the bare-faced lies to try to absolve themselves of any blame. WHAT A JOKE.

My husband and I have just come home from visiting Paris and we stayed at the Hôtel Le Clos Médicis, it was a mixed bag of positives and negatives which I’ll list below.
Negatives:
The hotel advertises that they can book you tickets to attractions on their marketing and on the leaflet, you view when you check in to your room. We asked the lady on reception if she would book us tickets to the Eiffel Tower of which she became standoffish about and didn’t want to do for us. Why advertise you’ll help tourists book tickets for attractions and when asked to do so behave like that.
Again according to their marketing they said they have a serviced bar 24/7, I was really looking forward after a long travel day to sit and have a drink at the hotel bar but it ended up being some shelves with coffee syrups and empty spirit bottles and I never saw anyone manning this ‘Bar’. On the same note, the Mini Bar in our room was very disappointing, one packet of crisps, a single cake and two cans of coke are not what I was expecting. I almost laughed when checking out when she asked had we used the mini bar.. what was there to use?! How can you have a mini bar with no alcohol in it?!
For a premium room, I was expecting a slightly larger room with at least a view on to the street.
I feel like some of the staff members need some customer service training possibly, I found one of the staff members in particular very standoffish and unhelpful and not (in my opinion working in a customer service position myself) how you treat customers.
End on some positives.
The location is amazing, to have the Pantheon and Notre Dame in walking distance was lovely plus some amazing food venues too in walking distance.
The bed itself was comfortable, I slept well whilst there.
The hotel itself was in decent condition, thought the small lift was very cute and romantic, as was the little court yard In the middle.
I’ll close with this, if you want somewhere to purely sleep with no frills in a fab location, I’d recommend but they do need to look at their marketing and remove some of the things I’ve listed above as I had a certain expectation of what it was going to be like and it didn’t live up to that.
Only reason its getting 3 and not a 2 is because of...
Read moreMy husband and I booked this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is centrally located in Paris and has lots of great shops and restaurants near by. Since the hotel is very old we expected the usual, small elevator, outdated hair dryer, imperfections etc... we arrived very early in the morning. Check in is at 2pm, knowing this prior I emailed the hotel a couple days before to ask if they would hold our luggage while we explored the city until check in time. Mia from the hotel emailed me back quickly and kindly informed me that they provide luggage storing at no cost. She also reconfirmed my reservation which I appreciated. Upon arriving we checked in and left our luggage with the gentleman at the front desk. We also paid our city tax for our stay. (This tax is normal in Europe, maybe a euro or two per day.) We were told we could come a little earlier than 2pm if we needed to and were offered breakfast at 13 euros. The breakfast is a good amenity to have on site but we did not try it. Little outdoor terrace for breakfast or lounging. Cute sitting area near check in. We booked a double superior room and it was small but expected for the location of the hotel. I would prefer a smaller room in a better location anytime. Room was clean for the age the hotel is, can certainly tell that this hotel is old, needs some cosmetic work, the hair dryer is old but works, I wished I had packed my travel hair dryer. The bathroom was not as clean as I would of liked, however we always Lysol n Clorox wipe every inch of any hotel we stay in. Maybe this was due to the hotel trying to rush so we could check in earlier? The room and bathroom were cleaned daily and always provided with fresh towels. Overall we had a good experience at this hotel and we would stay again. If your looking for the amenities you have at home I would suggest using an intercontinental hotel, for us this was a great option for the things we wanted to see and do while in Paris. I would recommend this hotel to...
