Avoid like the plague. (In fact, if you see the plague waving at you from the opposite direction, rush towards it and away from this place.)
Off-the-scale rude waiter — and quite amazingly, which takes some talent, to each of us five individually on different counts. The bland and tasteless food was truly divine in comparison.
And the pièce de résistance was the absence of toilet facilities — to the extent that when one of us wanted to use it (twice requested), they offered no solution, like a staff toilet or next door option or anything. Instead, they lamely pointed out that they had put up a sign to that effect; unsurprisingly, this was a barely visible sign, three-quarter of the way underground (not on the store front window or anywhere remotely decent like the ground floor where one could read it, god forbid), that said the toilet was not functioning, as though that was supposed to exonerate them.
There were toilets even in the jail cells in Alcatraz.

Read moreI went here with my partner, pretty late. We got a table and the waiter asked us if we wanted to eat (au français). I had been learning basic french on the trip, so answered that we would eat soon but start with some wine. The waiter told us that the kitchens would close soon, and brought us some wine.
Later he came by and told us if we wanted to eat we should order. We ordered (the food was excellent!). After we ordered the waiter turned to go, but then he turned back around and said in English "I just want to say that your french is.... EXCELLENT!".
The crazy bit was that the restaurant has two levels, and 5 minutes later we heard the same waiter serving the table above us. He talked, and then we heard a loud American drawl "Well.... I don't speak French so I'll go ahead and order in English..." and then our waiter saying... "Well maybe you should PRACTICE!"
10/10, instant favourite...
Read moreA short walk from Bd Saint-Germain or around the corner from the Luxembourg Gardens. Au Petit Suisse is a cool little spot for hanging out and having a tasty meal.
We dropped by for dinner on a sunny early evening. We were greeted promptly by a friendly fellow and seated immediately. We sat inside on their second level of seating that offered us an interesting voyeuristic view of the diners below and out front.
This brasserie is very cool looking. It has a lot of character and is a really nice place to have a drink or a meal.
Our server, a deeeeep voiced gentleman, was very friendly and helpful. We chose this brasserie because we notice that they had ratatouille. It is served as a side with a few of their dishes.
In short, our food was delicious and I wish I was there eating lunch and having...
