High Beach White - Let’s Down (Not As Expected)

If you're an experienced traveller with high expectations for a true 5-star, adults-only resort, this review is for you. What they advertise isn't what you get.

🌴Location & Vibe: Hotel is located in Malia, a popular party destination. The area is a noisy and very crowded place - not a suitable spot for anyone who is looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

➖⭐️⭐️ Myth-Busters - Two stars subtracted: "Adults-Only" is a Myth. We chose High Beach White particularly because it was advertised as "Adults Only." We were badly misled. In fact, only the room building and one small part of the dining area are adults only. The entire rest of the resort (pools, beaches, main bars) is shared with the family-friendly High Beach Hotel. This was not explained clearly, especially on the TUI website on which we booked. This is a scam: they charge you for a false promise. When we inquired and brought this to their attention, the receptionist was rude and dismissive and blamed us for not "reading the website."

➡️ To Hotel Management: You can't serve two entirely different crowds at the same time. Pick a lane.

➖⭐️ Removed one star - Unbearable Noise & Poor Response: Our suite was right next to a loud bar. The bass was so strong it actually shook through our bed. We telephoned reception several times, but they didn't offer a solution. It wasn't until we took the issue to TUI and the hotel manager finally moved us next morning. How bad was it? The neighbors who were next to our old room threw water at the bar's DJ in frustration.

➡️ The hotel is obviously well aware of this problem, but still sells these rooms at a premium price without warning.

➖⭐️ One star subtracted - Cheap practices for a "5-Star" hotel

➡️ Sunbed Charges: A true 5-star hotel doesn't sell sunbeds on its own beach for the general public. This was cheap and brought in a crowd that wasn't in keeping with the resort's pretended standard. ➡️ Beach Vendors: The hotel permits aggressive vendors to sell on the beach (I've never seen vendors at a true 5-star resort). It had more the feel of a public beach in Barcelona. ➡️ System Chaos: Even after relocating rooms, the hotel's system couldn't identify us as High Beach White guests, meaning we missed out on the few exclusive perks which we had actually paid for.

➕⭐️ The one and only star is reserved for the hotel management (not reception) and some of the staff members who were finally helpful and professional in solving our problems.

➡️ Service: But the bartender at the sunset beach bar (2nd Floor) was so rude. After waiting a long time for bill, we decided to leave. Then he accosted us and talked to us like criminals, this was totally unacceptable.

🏁 Final verdict: All in all, our experience was a negative one. High Beach White is more expensive than the cheaper High Beach hotel but offers the exact same experience: the same food, the same pool crowding and the same noisy beach.

Wir waren Anfang Juni eine Woche im High Beach White Hotel und was sollen wir sagen: wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Location:

Die Anlage besteht aus zwei Hotelanlagen. Das fällt aber nicht wirklich auf, da alle Lokalitäten sehr nah beieinander liegen. Das High Beach White besteht aus nur wenigen Zimmern, die etwas separiert sind, somit hat man dort wirklich seine komplette Ruhe. Der Strand ist DIREKT vor der Tür, sowie alle Restaurants und Bars. Es gibt zwei Essenmöglichkeiten und viele Bars unter anderem zwei Roof top Bars in denen eine Vielfalt von hochwertigen Drinks angeboten werden, die wir jeden Abend beim Sonnenuntergang genossen haben.

Zimmer: Ein Traum! Wir hatten die Junior Suite mit Meerblick. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber, wurden täglich gereinigt und wir hatten ein riesiges Badezimmer inkl. Whirlpool-Badewanne. Das Kingsize Bett war bequemer als unser Bett zuhause. Wirklich Wahnsinn! Der Balkon war sehr groß mit traumhaftem Blick auf das glasklare, türkise Meer und die kleine Insel mit Kapelle, welche mit einigen Schwimmzügen gut zu erreichen ist. Super Erlebnis! Tägliches frisches Wasser mit eigenem Kühlschrank rundete alles ab.

Speis und Trank: Wow! Wir waren bereits in vielen All Inklusiv Hotels und hatten noch nie so gutes Essen. Das Buffet war nie leer, alles wurde frisch zubereitet, die Auswahl war phänomenal. Von Salaten, Beilagen, unterschiedlichen Soßen, Gemüse, (Grill)Fleisch, griechische Spezialitäten bis hin zu verschiedenen Dessert wie selbst gebackene Kuchen, Kekse, Obst, Eis und vielem mehr war alles dabei. Es hat ALLES super geschmeckt. Es gab verschiedene Themenabende, bei denen zum Teil Livegrillen im Außenbereich stattgefunden hat. Die Küche war definitiv anspruchsvoller als das typische „All Inklusiv Buffet“. Unser Highlight waren die Cocktails und allgemein die Getränke. Überall gab es frisches Fassbier und guten Rot – und Weißwein. In vielen Hotels sind diese meist die letzte Wahl. Hier war es anders. Das griechische Fassbier und der Wein waren super lecker! Selbst für die Cocktails wurden qualitativ hochwertige Spirituosen verwendet. Ich hatte viel Getrunken und mir ging es am nächsten Tag nie schlecht 😉 Das hatte ich in vielen Ländern bereits anders erlebt.

Staff: Das beste zum Schluss: meine Frau und ich möchten generell im Urlaub unsere Ruhe haben. Hier konnte man sowohl seine Ruhe haben, als auch wirklich nette Urlauber kennenlernen. Wir haben uns für ersteres entschieden. Aber die Mitarbeiter sind einfach so herzlich und nett gewesen, dass wir wirklich sehr traurig waren, als wir abreisen mussten. So etwas haben wir bisher nicht erlebt. Ich hatte meiner Frau zum 30. Geburtstag ein Dinner am Strand geschenkt. Die Mitarbeiter haben Berge versetzt und sich von vorne bis hinten um alles gekümmert. Meine Frau hatte sich so sehr darüber gefreut. Jede Angestellte und Angestellter war super zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir haben in der einen Woche so nette Menschen kennen gelernt. Allein für diese kommen wieder! Speziell zu erwähnen wäre Katerina und der nette Barkeeper in der Seaside Beach Bar. Aber auch Ladislav der sich soviel Mühe und Arbeit gemacht hat, muss erwähnt werden! Ich habe in Deutschland noch nie so herzliches und tolles personal kennengelernt. Danke!

Fazit: Wenn man einen Strandurlaub, mit gutem Essen, netten Personal und schönen Zimmern sucht, ist das High Beach white die erste Wahl in Kreta. Wir hatten uns 2 Tage ein Mietauto vom Hotel organisieren lassen und waren in kurzer Zeit in so vielen schönen Ecken von Kreta. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

My husband and I hoped for a sunny and comfortable vacation at a pleasant get-away, and that is exactly what we got.

Room: The room was lovely, meticulously cleaned every day, and offered a lovely view of the cretan mountains above the city.

Service: The staff is amazing. The service, their effort to make our stay comfortable, and their kindness certainly played a huge part in making this vacation perfect. The regular entertainment the hotel provided filled the evenings with pleasant music. We always felt that everyone went the extra mile for their guests.

Location: The location by the beach and the closeness to the main streets of Malia let us enjoy both the ocean and the city. Despite the busy beachfront, the hotel and surrounding areas never felt crowded, and there was opportunities both to socialize and enjoy solitude.

Summary: We strongly recommend High Beach White and High Beach Resort for anyone wanting to enjoy Crete with great hospitality and comfort. Whether you travel solo, with family, or as a couple, this hotel strives to make every guests...
