We had 3 nights at the Madalena Hotel. I’d happily recommend it and would stay here again. We had a great stay here and it was an excellent base for exploring Mykonos. |LOCATION: Located just outside Mykonos Town, it was a short 10 minute walk downhill to the harbour and old town. Of course, it’s uphill on the way Bach from dinner but the slope is gradual and steady, not suddenly steep.|ROOM: Our room was was spacious enough that our large bags could be easily put aside. Decor was attractive, and the bathroom looked new and spotlessly clean. We had a lovely balcony with a bright crimson bougainvillea and a sea view. The only drawback was that there were a lot stairs up to the lobby and then more up to our room. Staff carried our bags up for us which made a huge difference. In hindsight, I could have asked for a room on a lower level, although we did have a very good view from up high.|SERVICE: Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Someone was always available in reception to help with local knowledge, useful tips and recommendations. They were very thorough. Right from the start, they gave us a good map of the town and highlighted various restaurants and sights on it. Before we arrived, they were quick to reply to emails (which is always a good sign). There were also a number of small details which made a difference. For example, the complimentary toiletries were very nice quality, particularly the body milk. Also a large bottle of water was provided in our room every day - this was really helpful. |BREAKFAST: Breakfast was included and this was by far the best breakfast we had during our time in Greece. Every morning we lingered over the generous buffet breakfast, which included cereal, juice, fruit, thick Greek yoghurt, cold meats & cheeses, hot bacon, a couple of different options for eggs, and a good selection of breads, cakes and pastries. I looked forward to the orange syrup cake each morning - it was delicious. There was seating both inside and outside, along a covered balcony. The balcony tables were the best but there weren’t that many of them. Fortunately we were able to sit here each morning and enjoy a lovely, long, slow breakfast with a view of the sea.|POOL: The pool was only small but it wasn’t much-used so we found it a quiet and relaxing area to sit with our books. We were there in June when the water was still cold so it may be much more crowded in the height of summer. |GETTING THERE: We pre-booked the hotel transport which was waiting for us when we arrived at the port. This was €20 for the two of us and was by far the easiest way to get to the hotel, especially as we...
Read moreWe are more than satisfied with our stay at Hotel Madela, the attention given to every little detail, impeccable and absolutely picturesque design in which you do not need to leave the hotel to have a spectacular setting and be able to take incredible photos with a full Mykonos vibes, the impeccable pool as well as towels for pool service available and at hand... The staff was always super friendly and kind, so friendly that they made us feel safe, calm and at home, always with a smile, always willing to help, they also gave us excellent recommendations as a great tour around Mykonos... An important point to highlight is the eclectic selection of foods in the amazing breakfast, everything was so delicious, warm and fresh, with excellent quality in all the ingredients, simply spectacular, it was a joy to wake up and know that we would have that breakfast a few steps from our suite; the waitress was always attentive, fast and very friendly.
The hotel has a beautiful view of the sea, the center, the windmills, the cruise ships and the sunset; also you can walk to the center, come and go in less than 5 minutes, it has an incredible location!
We definitely recommend Hotel Madalena and would love to return in the future God willing.
Thank you so much to the 2 host, to Edie who helped us with the luggage, to the kitchen team, to the cleaning staff, to the driver,...
Read moreTerrible reception service!!! The day time receptionist lady with glasses is so rude!!
So we asked for transportation to port and ferry depart at 9.45am. We were told to get ready at 8.50am.
And when it's 8.50am the bus didn't come. So we checked with the receptionist lady, she told us the bus will come at 9.50am in a bad way. but our ferry depart at 9.45am.! Then she only looked through her book and said we were right. Also, asked us to wait for 10mins. Can't she check properly before she talk to us?! She didn't even apologise for the late arrival bus.
Waited for 10mins, the bus is still not here yet. We checked with her again. She said it's coming with bad attitude but didn't see her make a phone call to confirm with the bus driver. Shouldn't she call to confirm?!
So we believed her and waited for like another 10mins. It was 9.13am already, my wife got worried and checked with the receptionist lady, she then kept saying it's coming and yelled us to go wait downstairs. And there's no one come help us carry our luggages.! Worst service ever!
The bus only came at 9.25am. In this case, why would they ask us to get ready at 8.50am when the bus only came at 9.25am?! Lucky that we can still make it...
