The staff was so so friendly and gave the best recommendations and tips on how to get around the island. The room was very clean and fairly big (I was staying with my friend and we had an extra bed). It didn't include breakfast, but that just allowed more exploration of the town!
However, I do have to give this hostel a poor rating due to the fact that during my stay, I had kept my cash in the safe in the room that was locked by a key. I had triple checked the amount I had when I had arrived and had only taken from it around three times during my short stay (I am also on a fairly organized budget, that I take careful track of, esp of cash because I am always paranoid of losing/carryng large amounts). At the end of my 2 day stay, when I re-checked the amount in the wallet that had stayed in the safe the entire time there was 300 euros missing.
I don't know what happened but am completely confident that I had not spent that much money (did not have any hard drinking nights as per rep of the island) and had not even taken out that much money from the wallet ever. I had to leave early as my friend had to catch her flight in the morning but I called the hostel and reported the loss. However, as expected, nothing could really be done. Extremely unfortunate, but something to be wary about and a hard...
Read moreThe location is perfect! I know Mykonos very well and I chose Orpheas precisely because of its strategic location: a stone's throw from Fabrika (bus and taxi stop), close to the main streets, the windmill area, and Megali Ammos, which is not the most beautiful beach, but is very convenient because it can be reached in a few minutes. It is also very close to the car park at the entrance to the village. The view from my room (no. 11) was incredible: a spectacular view of the sea from the glass door of the room and, from the shared terrace, a beautiful view of Agiou Artemiou, the street that leads to the windmills. The rooms are not very large, but every detail has been taken care of. The design is pleasant, the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is spacious with a fantastic shower. An iron and ironing board, coffee machine with pods and herbal teas, cups, refrigerator, and wardrobe are available. Impeccable cleanliness and very friendly staff. The only detail to note is that the stairs to the rooms are quite steep, so it is best to take this into account if you have mobility issues. I guess you can ask for a room with...
Read moreWe booked a ‘Budget Twin Room’ via hostel world in April, for August. When we arrived at the hotel we were provided keys for a double room. I showed the staff member my booking and said we needed a twin room (for my friend and I). She explained that she only had doubles and it was a mistake with hostelworld’s website. Given that it was peak season, we had no option but to take the room. No discount or compensation was offered, despite me saying “i haven’t received what I paid for and I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known this”. The comment was met with a shoulder shrug and continued denial of fault. When we followed up with hostelworld, they confirmed that all room descriptions are created by the property, but they’d forward the complaint on for us. ||False advertising, poor service and uninspiring room. You can certainly find better than this place. ||Photos of basic double (€190 per night). Photos are as we checked out, the bed was made when we...
