We have just returned from this hotel (Oct 13th ) this was a two week stay and everything was fine . The hotel has approx 40 rooms , so more of a family business and that's how it felt , all the staff were great , but we spent a lot of time at the pool, so mostly saw Panos who ran the bar , he looked after us famously. Panos, recommended some great restaurants, where to watch the sports and the latest betting odds . The hotel is very clean and tidy , the breakfast service is very good and comprehensive, bacon and eggs are available, but I preferred the meat and cheese style, with cakes and excellent coffee after . The pool is very small , but with plenty of sunbeds, most days there were just about six people using it ( the beach is 5 minutes away ) so perhaps most people went there , all the front bars offer free sunbeds if you buy a drink . The hotel was described by Tui as 'adults only ' ( we never opt for anything else ) so we were disappointed that children are allowed, fortunately the only guests who were there had a new baby , who was fine, so be aware of a possible nightmare situation. We met some great people there and everyone was really friendly, the hotel gets a lot of American guest ,but only for a few days, then they leave for their next location usually Athens . The nearest town is Fira ( you must go ) it's a 15 minute bus ride away 3.20 for the two of us one way , they are frequent so we had no problems. Word of warning , stay away from the Taxis , the return fare back 10 minutes, was 30 euros but that may be each , so be warned avoid them like the plague. There are lots of restaurants, so I will do a separate review with the best ones that we...
Read moreThis was a wonderful place to stay in Santorini - Mar n Mar is a small boutique hotel and this was a quiet and relaxing stay. The staff (shout out to Mikey) went above and beyond in making sure I had everything I needed.
The location was superb - tons of restaurants, shops, and the beach were only steps away. I don't think the hotel has parking available if you have a rental car (don't quote me on that). The bus station is five minutes away via foot and it was super convenient for traveling around the island.
The pool was excellent - plenty of lounge chairs were available throughout the day. There was a shaded area too if you wanted to stay out of direct sunlight.
I was beyond impressed with the breakfast, wow. I ate fresh eggs every morning; the variety of items was awesome.
The hotel was clean and well-maintained. The price was reasonable.
I would have loved to have a hook anywhere in the room to hang up towels / swimsuits to dry (I put them on my balcony chair to dry) and a small refrigerator.
The next time I visit Santorini I hope to splurge on one of the pool suites in Oia, but still had a wonderful stay at Mar n Mar and...
Read moreLovely hotel which has been renovated to a high standard. The rooms are very comfortable with a modern decor and everything is incredibly clean and tidy. The beds are extremely comfortable and the air conditioning controlled by a remote which was very convenient, especially during the night. We had a balcony with a table and chairs but some rooms had loungers, others are available with a hot tub. We also had a good sized wardrobe with several hangers and a safe therein. The staff are friendly and helpful and the communal areas impeccably maintained. They don't serve lunch or dinner but the breakfasts are excellent with a good range of options and the staff keep the dining area meticulously clean. The hotel is situated a short walk from all the amenities of Kamari but you are far enough away from the main street to not be disturbed. You can also get the bus to Fira from the stop at the end of the road and from there to the rest of the island. It's in a good spot but it is on a short steep hill so be aware of this if you have mobility issues. We would definitely recommend it and if we return to the island would...
