I was approched by a man name.John i believe and he helped me to my place and told me about his company i was happy and he also arranged my bus to el salvador. I thought everything was fine until i went on the tour to acatenango and discovered that it was such a low grade tour. It was going to be raining so i wanted to change my date but they did not let me so i had to hike in the rain and freezing cold! Made the experience much worst also the sleeping bags and the top of the mountain are not ever washed just sprayed down, they smelled horrible! Almost made me vomit but i had no choice but to get into it because it was so cold. The experience was terrible, look at the weather first before you.book the tour bc they wont let you change. Aslo i found out through the driver to el tunco that they charged me $10 extra smh. So by trying to support a local buisness i get ripped off smh would not reccommend this company, there are plenty of other companies with the same tours and for cheap, el tunco should be no more...
Read moreI'm not the type to complain and I tend to go with the flow but wow, the rooms were terribly unclean even for me. The room I stayed in had no windows so it was quite gloomy and dingy and there was a septic odor coming from the bathroom that could not be masked over by one of those floral odor eaters. Sure the bar on the roof closed its doors at 11pm but the music and patrons continued to make noise until the wee hours of the morning. The dude at the front desk also ended up charging us a little more than we agreed on at the beginning and me, not a speaker of Spanish, I felt taken advantage of. You could do better almost anywhere else for the price. Perhaps the only good thing to say about my brief 2 night stay was the place has a pretty good location. And I liked chatting with some of the people who tended the front desk. Also, caution, bed bugs galore. But then again bed bugs can be most anywhere so that's not much...
Read moreI’m not the type to leave negative reviews but this should be a warning for others there – I decided to book a shuttle service from Antigua to Atitlan. Sergio who runs ecotour was very kind with helping to make the booking. I asked if I will be dropped off at my hotel, and he said yes.
However today at Atitlan, the driver refused to do so and he gave me my bag, saying this was the last stop! After dropping everyone! But I wasn’t informed in the first place. I had to walk 1km to my accommodation, with my backpack. As a solo traveller, this really leaves a bitter taste for be dropped in a new town and not where was as promised.
I relayed this to Sergio and he said that I am staying out of Panajachel, but clearly I am still in the town – where the main road is.
It wasn’t the service I paid for, and the communication was poor. Book at...
