Madre Tierra is a gem in the heart of Antigua Guatemala! Nestled just a block from Central Park on 6a Avenida Norte, this vibrant restaurant warmly wraps you in its cozy, colorful ambiance—perfect for a relaxing meal indoors or al fresco under shade trees .

From the very start, you're greeted with the aroma of hot, fresh tortillas on the comal—a delightful sign of authentic, home-style cooking . The menu offers a range of well-seasoned meats, classic local dishes, and standout options like the chicken burger and fresh watermelon juice, all paired with attentive, friendly service .

Whether it's breakfast to the smell of sizzling tortillas, a relaxed lunch on the patio, or a flavorful dinner, the atmosphere is consistently inviting . While the menu leans toward familiar favorites rather than constant innovation, the quality, flavor, and warmth of the experience more than deliver—especially loved dishes like parrillada, flan de calabaza, and plátanos maduros con mole .

In short: Madre Tierra combines great food, charming atmosphere, and genuine hospitality—whether you're looking for a hearty breakfast, a flavorful lunch, or a cozy dinner spot. A truly memorable...

Excellent. Food is delicious and the staff is extremely kind. I asked the lady at the pharmacy down the street where I should go eat if I only am eating out one night in Antigua. She said Madre Tierra is really good and where her family likes to go. She was so right!

Tortillas con queso were really good. I also got the lomo adobado which was delicious. Dessert was excellent as well but honestly I barely had room because the dinner was so filling!!

To top it off I gave a food allergy (nuts) and not only was I extremely grateful for their concern but I noticed on my final bill, my allergy was very clearly noted in two different places for the waitstaff.

Not only that when I ordered desert, a different waiter came after I placed the order (they work as a team) to double check and make sure I was okay with cocoa and that it is not a nut. How did he know I was allergic to nuts when he was not the waiter I told? Because the staff cared and communicated this with each other.

I had a drink, appetizer, entre and dessert for ~200...

We had one day to visit the beautiful city of Antigua Guatemala so I wanted to make the most of it by finding a restaurant I wouldn't regret. After checking some reviews, it came down to two places: Madre Tierra and another nearby restaurant. We compared menus and chose Madre Tierra. Our group of eight was seated in the back patio, shielded from the sun but in view of the open sky. The plentiful greenery surrounded us and reminded us we were still in the tropics of central America. Our waiter understood quite a bit of English so my special order was easy to make. We were delighted when the food was presented on wood slabs. It was a beautiful presentation. Everyone received their meat entrees cooked to order. The portions were just right. We had just a small amount remaining which is always a sign of a good meal. We were in and out in just over an hour, plenty of time to just enjoy the ambience. The price was similar to what I would pay in the U.S. and the food was high quality. The location is centrally located and convenient. I highly...

I was drawn in by the smell of the bbq pit thats at the front of the resturant and the smoke bellows out on to the street...im sure its intentional, haha.... I ordered the chicken parilla, which id barbecue chicken 1/4, guacamole, potatoes and green onions and 3 thick tortillas. It was okay-ish, it needed a little flavour to be honest, it was a little bland ( the chicken ) The guacamole was really good , the potatoes could of uaed a minute or 2 more of cooking time..... My meal with a watwr came to about 80q which is about 10 usd, so i suppose its reasonably priced for antigua. If i do return i will try another meal choice . The service was good, english and spanish menus are available.
