When searching for The Loft Hostel make sure you do not end up at The Loft HOTEL! It's not the same!
Anyway, the hostel is a short walk from the train station (20 min walk) and about an hour BUS ride to/from the airport. The hostel is inside an apartment building so you will see locals in the building. We never had any issues with the residences and one lady (on the 2nd floor) was extremely nice, spoke perfect english and guided us to the hostel when we got lost finding it because the building is technically 6 stories high but for some reason, the hostel which is on the TOP floor (the 6th floor) is considered the 4th floor. Really strange. So if you take the elevator (it's a small old timey elevator that works just fine), you take it to the 3rd floor, walk out to the courtyard walkway across to the other side and take another flight of stairs to the next level up. Don't worry, there are signs. But if you take the stairs, like we did, then you might get lost.
Anyway, the main hostel area is super cute. Has a full kitchen and a cute common area which we took advantage of a couple of times since we had a private room that wasn't part of the main hostel. Our private room was actually an apartment itself just right next door to the hostel with its own full kitchen and bathroom!
The staff here were really nice and super helpful! They gave us numerous recommendations on restaurants and how to navigate the city. They even let us check out late since the next reservation wasn't going to be checking in til later that night!
We took advantage of the laundry service for 1000 ft since we had been traveling and needed our clothes washed and they were done with it in just a few hours!
The neighborhood is super safe and clean and walking distance to everything! We actually never used taxi or public transportation the entire time...

Atmosphere
A pleasant atmosphere that combines a social, energetic aspect with the quiet you need if you're looking for it. Everything blends together very clearly, and of course, it's always going to change a bit depending on the people, but most people who come to this hostel feel the wonderful vibe.
Location
6 minutes from the Kelvin tér metro station, which is part of M3, and within 2 stops (3 minutes) you can also reach the M1, M2, M4 metro lines at Deak Ferenc station.
Just 5 minutes from Fovam tér, a light rail station from which you can reach the Jewish Quarter (2-3 stops depending on which station you get off at, Astoria or Deak Ferenc)
600 meters from the German supermarket Aldi, which is located inside the large Central Market Hall.
300-400 meters from Red Ruin bar
Right next to the hostel you can find an excellent coffee shop, and even a restaurant to eat breakfast if you want (not necessarily cheap)
Kitchen Well equipped!
Hospitality
The hostel is considerate and pleasant towards its guests!
Price
The price varies depending on the period, but it can be said that most of the time the price is within a reasonable range (of course, depending on the budget and the number of days). I would certainly recommend it even if the price is at its peak season if it's only for a few days.
Lockers and Security
2 codes are required to enter the hostel, which increases overall security! . Although the lockers can only be locked with a padlock (which can be provided by the hostel if needed), the place is very safe. My stay was long and split (meaning different groups stayed at the hostel on different dates during my stay) and I can say that I did not encounter a single problematic incident. Usually, the problem is people who come to the hostel from the outside.
Privacy
You can rent a private room, but even if you don't, the place allows for quiet, and the size allows for some privacy even when there is no 'curtain'.
Additional Details and Notes
I want to thank Anna, Alice, and Alejandro. Personally and publicly for the experience, the help, and the social aspect. The hostel also has various collections, art, and luggage storage if needed - before your official check-in.

Deak Ferenc)
Read moreSuch an awesome place. Alice and Alessandro work tirelessly to keep it the best in Hungary. Their combination of strengths and commitment to every little detail in the hostel means you won't find a better place to stay unless they open it. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, there are mosquito nets in the windows which is a must, laundry can be done for a small fee. The facilities are amazing. There is coffee and tea available. The social atmosphere is super engaging. If you want to go out every night you can, but if you want to work on your laptop in the comfortable lounge mostly then you can do that too. There are even some weights. Props to Anna, who is incredibly sweet and smiley and keeps everything oiled and the vibes super happy. When you stay you get a QR code to an incredibly helpful city cheat sheet with a run down of all the city's gems. The beds are placed far enough apart that everyone can sleep in peace. There's a nice dining area and cooking appliances sufficient to make a decent restaurant quality meal. Location is super central and on the river - you can't do much better. It's a special vibe and my review will never do it justice. Thank you so much for...
