My girlfriend and I stayed here in mid June 2017: to be a hostel, the quality of the place is fair. It is very clean, and you get some degree of privacy because the bunk beds are separated by a thin wall (it does not reach the roof, though). You can meet some nice people at the common rooms. The staff at the reception is really kind and we appreciated that.||||The kitchen is not fully equipped (only microwave and small fridge). Outside there is also a terrible noise. We woke up at 7 AM to some loud speaking people and some sort of infernally noisy machine (like a jackhammer din) they were using to work/clean right next to our window! At 8, when we finally could fall asleep again, we were woken up by the alarm from another guest that, in an unbelievably unpolite way, let it ring for 15 minutes before I was stopped by my girlfriend to go beating him and she went to kindly ask him to switch it off.||||Also, we were told that we would be offered a welcome drink. Since we did not have time to take it upon arrival, the night we went back to pick our luggage (they kindly kept it for us the whole day after we checked out) we asked to the receptionist if it was possible to have it. He said yes and went to the bar to tell them that we were having it. At the bar, the girl in duty let us know straight from the beginning that she was closing at midnight (it was 11:30 PM) and did the same with everyone else. We understand she needs to go home, but there was no need to constantly remind us that, and to look impatiently at the clock while serving us. In any case, we felt free to order a glass of cider and a Margarita (which had almost no alcohol or taste). She gave us a bill before we finished our drink in order to kick us out. We were surprised because it was meant to be our welcome drink! The problem was that she did not bother to tell us from the beginning which drinks we could pick from the menu. We don't understand what the guy at the reception told her, then. There was a problem of miscommunication, which may happen, but then we were not offered the possibility to pay only the difference or any other kind of courtesy. Once we paid (almost the price of another night!), we still asked for our "free drinks" (which were supposed to be a couple of beers that she could perfectly have given us in a bottle or plastic glass to finish them in the street so she could close and leave at midnight), but she totally refused. It is not about the "free" thing, but the terrible way she managed the problem. She was really unpolite. The service at the bar was...
Read moreBroadway Apartments is marketed as 3 1/2 to 4 stars, but on some sites is called a Hostel. There were too many areas lacking, hence the 3 star rating. ||Cons:|1. Poor service from some but not all receptionists |2. Too many different receptionists from day to day |3. Silly rules like only providing 2 towels per apartments, only 1 soap per apartment and no hand towels |4. Not enough pillows |5. No pillow cases until we complained |6. Leaking of urine from toilet base. Despite reporting this on day 2, only a maintenance man was sent on day 4 and he couldn't fix it. On day 5 we complained bitterly and were offered another room which although smaller was a better room|7. To use airconditioner you needed to rent it|8. Fridge was malfunctioning and no action was taken to fix it|9. Despite the presence of a kettle, there was no coffee or tea |10. Strange cleaning rules. Reception told us that rooms were serviced only on 4th day, but cleaners told us you can request servicing any day |11. Weak and intermittent WIFI || Pros: ||1. Great central location close to all services including small supermarket |2. Sizeable rooms|3. Good full kitchen|4. Plenty of cupboard space ||We were quite disappointed as we loved Budapest. It appears some of the receptionists were incompetent and lied to us several times. ||I would not recommend this ...
Read moreThis apartment is a disaster. it's location is just above the reception and patio area, where everyone gathers to smoke, including the receptionists. Since we like some fresh air on a hot day, we open the windows and breathe cigarette smoke, and hear their conversations. The furniture appears to have been purchased at garage sales. The walls are barren, there's no handle on the refrigerator door, and the fridge makes loud noise all night. You want A/C? That's an extra 10 Euro per day. A month later, we both still have injured toes from the poorly designed bed frame which sticks out at the sides on the floor. The "pillows" are not traditional bed pillows, but one in thick mats with a case over it. The "apartments" otherwise are just OK but not at the prices they are charging. The only bright spot for us was Judith at the front desk. You can do better than this for the price, but no price would suffice for...
