2025- October.
We stayed at Opera Garden Hotel & Apartments and had a comfortable and pleasant experience overall.
We took a 30‐minute taxi ride from the airport to the hotel.
We arrived late at night—around midnight—and were warmly welcomed at the front desk. The staff member who checked us in was not only courteous and efficient, but she personally guided us to our room, which was a thoughtful touch after a long travel day.
The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to public transportation and many key attractions in Budapest. It’s tucked into a quieter street, which makes it feel more residential, though our room faced an alley where people were talking loudly until about 1 AM.
Our room was spacious and well-equipped. It had one comfortable bed with nightstands on both sides, though only one side had an EU socket. There was a smart flat-screen TV with preloaded streaming apps—we simply signed into our Netflix account and were good to go. Drawers under the TV provided extra storage. The room also featured a full-length mirror, a closet, and a safe for valuables.
The mini kitchenette included a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, electric hot water kettle, and a mini stove. It was stocked with plates, glasses, and utensils. A small table with two chairs made it easy to enjoy a quick meal or coffee.
The bathroom was clean and functional. It had a heated towel rack, liquid hand soap, and a liquid body wash dispenser—though the dispenser only released a tiny amount of soap at a time, which made filling a loofah a bit of a workout 😅. Towels and hand towels were provided. A hair dryer was available, and small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were provided upon request. Shower water pressure was excellent. The mirror vanity was placed too high—I could only see from my eyes up when standing directly in front of it. Counter space was also limited, which made organizing toiletries a bit tricky.
Breakfast was a highlight. Each morning featured hot dishes like eggs, bacon, and some form of potatoes, alongside a variety of breads, strudel, fresh fruits, juices, and a wide selection of coffee and hot chocolate 😋. Several staff members were present and all were friendly and attentive.
Housekeeping serviced the room daily and kept everything tidy. One issue we encountered was room temperature—it was difficult to cool the room, so we resorted to opening the window. There doesn’t seem to be a dual heating/cooling system, which may be a seasonal limitation.
I only saw one elevator during our stay, but I never waited more than a minute for it, which was a pleasant surprise.
Opera Garden Hotel & Apartments offers a great location, solid amenities, and friendly service. While there were a few quirks with the room layout and temperature control, the overall experience was positive. The breakfast and staff hospitality stood out the most.
I recommend 👌 this hotel.

Read moreI stayed at this hotel once and it was perfectly fine. This one star review is awarded due to bad, inflexible and totally income centric attitude that completely disregards individual needs of guests even if this would have meant exactly zero losses for the hotel.
I booked a 3-day stay using a restricted rate to visit my extremely ill mother. Unfortunately, due to work issues, this trip was postponed by 3 days. I understand rate restrictions, however in cases where this does not create a major disadvantage for the hotel, changes are granted. This was not the case with Opera Garden.
I checked availability, and found available rooms (even now, as I am writing this review, the dates are still available) with rates lower than those for the original stay. I asked Expedia, whom this rate was booked through to speak to the hotel and explain that I do not wish to pay less, I just want to change dates given this will not disadvantage anyone. Expedia tried this several times, without any tangible results.
I myself then called the hotel directly and explained the issue. The receptionist said there is nothing she could do but we should wait for the sales manager to arrive the following morning. She also said that usually these requests are granted but she of course cannot guarantee anything. I told the receptionist as well as Expedia about my circumstances. Following this, I had not heard back from the hotel for 2 days.
Only to receive a flat out no without any options when the change would have been easily done, the hotel would have actually earned the same amount of money and everybody would have walked away happy. I, for one, will stay away from this establishment and actively advise everyone I...
