So I was so excited to finally get a reservation for this topped rated Pizzeria. Upon entering I did not feel welcomed. The hostess was already set to refuse service because they both thought I didn’t have a reservation. I ordered a mango lemonade which they only used mango syrup and carbonated water with oranges that tasted horrible. I let the waitress know and she was so combative telling me what it was and how it was mango as I was trying to explain to her that I did not taste anything no flavor!!! She then took the drink and evidently added more syrup which it so desperately needed. I ordered the Capricciosa pizza with spicy salami which was extra. The pizza came out burnt and it tasted burnt. The pizza was so soggy I couldn’t eat it. I explained it to the waitress and she went on to explain the cooking process… how it cooks super fast 450 degrees for 90 seconds. She went on to say that since I ordered the pizza I ordered I shouldn’t expect for it to be crispy or totally done in the center. Because of the toppings. So why have a pizza on the menu if it’s not going to be cooked properly? I told her if it was 90 seconds then why was it burnt? No answer! Just looked stupid! Not going back! Who ever ranked them 35 out of 50 in Europe for the best pizza I need to know what they ordered because evidently they are not...
Read moreUna lezione come... Distruggere la pizza! We are polis-italian couple. My italian can't eat parmigiano so we always look for pizzas without or ask to not add. But this when it's in menu! You can't put parmigiano when it's not written in menu! But you did. In mortadella with burrata where there even doesn't fit! It destroyed totally : taste of mortadella, my day-we won't make waste to tell you and you will throw away pizza. So in place of eat like always half and half I needed to eat the whole mortadella pizza alone. I got indigestion. And all because of someone who doesn't care about menu and add parmigiano because think everyone like it. Nope. We are italian and we know where and where not it should go. Anyway pizza was good even if it wasn't for sure for 30th place in Europe. We travel the world and visit pizzerias from this classification- for sure Riga and Kaunas are better. (just example from the 50's the best in Europe). So pizza was ok, you destroyed it with adding parmigiano that wasn' t in menu (we triple checked! Pesto is not parmigiano by it's own common!) and you make you pay much more than every other pizzeria even in Italy... Totally no. Only the place is great like the location...
Read moreReally good pizza, I'd recommend it and would/probably will go again, but at the same time I wasn't blown away by it like I expected.
The inside/wet part of the two pizzas that I've tried was great in both cases, 5/5, though not as crazy good as I've had on some other rare occasions before. Still, to my untrained eye, the ingredients all seemed fresh and of high quality. The crust, however, wasn't amazing. It was still for sure good, but I found myself wanting to put toppings from the rest of the pizza on it when eating it. And since there's a significant amount of it, that kinda detracted from the overall experience for me, as a third of my bites tasted "just" good. It's possible that's just personal preference, though.
Another thing was that my gf's pizza had a patch next to the crust where there was just dough with no toppings. Judging from the other pics, that's probably not a regular occurrence, though, so I don't want to place too much importance on that.
Price is fair--not cheap, but not too expensive, either. I would've liked a bigger selection of pizzas with meat toppings, but maybe a smaller one is due to sticking to what's traditional?
Oh, and a...
