We stayed here in an 8 person form for 4 nights.||||We paid for two single beds in the dorm with 2 lockers and when we first checked in we didn't get a key each just one between us and we also had to share a locker for the duration of our stay because all of the keys to lockers in our room didn't work. ||||Although we are travelling as a couple this was really inconvenient because it meant one person always had to ask for the key to get their stuff out and it was a hassle. When we voiced concerns about this, staff told us 'yeah we'll need to get that fixed because theres a festival next week and the place will be packed!!' Didn't seem to care that the hostel was already at capacity and that current guests weren't getting what they paid for.||||Bathrooms were shared and disgusting. Some other guests on our floor were stag parties so this is probably why bathrooms were so bad but nothing was done about the state of them by staff. One morning they were covered in sick and stayed that way until the evening.||||Staff in general were just uninterested and not that helpful. ||||Only good things about this hostel were that they had a kitchen, you could book tickets for the baths at reception and the location was within walking distance to Deak Ferenc Ter (35 mins or so though). Reachable by metro but last metro is at 11.30 so if you're going out you will have to walk back.||||They also had laundry services here which was helpful. It was only 7 euro too...
Read moreMy rating of this may be coloured by the another negative hostel experience in Budapest, but I think regardless it is a really good hostel. The receptionists were friendly and efficient; the facilities were great--meaning common areas, bathrooms, etc. Only the wifi was disappointing, but they fixed that for my second day. The really great thing was that each bed has its own dedicated locker with key. Also, each bed has two dedicated outlets, something sorely lacking in a lot of other hostels. There are so many joke outfits in Budapest (apartments gotten up as hostels, with hungover staff, drying racks in the middle of the room, etc.), that this one was a refreshing difference. It also ended up being cheaper than the other ones at 11 euros/night. So I was very pleased. My one quibble other than the spotty wifi was that the second day (I changed rooms due to late booking) the sheets were not very clean. Overall though, I was impressed, especially considering the alternatives...
Read moreThis is a huge hostel with a lot of rooms and beds. With this in mind, I think it is a good hostel. We were a group of 17 people staying here during a class trip. Rooms were ok, bathrooms as well, although the bathrooms should been cleaned more often, and refilled with toilet paper, as this was too often missing in the bathroom. The breakfast had a surprisingly huge variety, although we sometimes had to wait for a while for them to refill certain things. There is also a big, quite clean and well-equipped kitchen that guests can use as they wish. The hostel has a good location, although I recommend to use the tram/metro in the city to get around easily. However, one of the best thing about this hostel is the personnel. Whatever happened (some of us was put into a room with 6 noisy boys, and some of us had bed bugs in our room), we were taken seriously about the staff and they gave us a new room/new beds when we really needed it. I felt safe and well taken care of in...
