I visited Salt and Pepper on Sept 22/24 in Budapest and my husband had the pleasure of trying their goulash. It was absolutely fantastic! , with just the right balance of spices. The tender beef and perfectly cooked, It felt like a warm hug in a bowl—exactly what you’d hope for from authentic Hungarian cuisine. I had a burger with no bun (I don't eat carbs) they were very accommodating, burger was good, but too small I was hungry! I forgot to ask no potatoes, but that was fine. The restaurant itself had a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. If you're in Budapest and want to experience traditional goulash at its best, Salt and Pepper is a must-visit. Furthermore, Vivi, Adam and Ginger were very attentive and kind, I hope Adam is leaving his dream by now.

We had the Hungarian mix plate for 2 people menu and a beer. The menu also included a Goulash soup. The food was amazing and it was enough (even a bit much) for two people and we didn't even finish some of it :)) . The staff and their attention to you was one of the best I've ever seen, they helped me as much as they could by telling me that they could replace a dish on the menu that I couldn't eat with something alternative, and their smiling faces were another thing that warmed the atmosphere. The ambiance and atmosphere was also very nice. I recommend it to everyone. Enjoy your meal.

This is more of a tourist spot, as the prices of the food are pretty high and the food not really convincing. Although it looks nice from the outside, and has a good view, the portions were for their price pretty small and we went and had some dessert after somewhere else. The food was okay, but nothing special and also the menu itself did not offer a lot of variety. The staff was nice tho, but we came for lunch so it was pretty busy and we had to wait sometime to get the food. Maybe it would have been better with fewer people. Still thank you for the lunch!

WARNING : The location of the restaurant and the food are great. However, there are red flags around this restaurant. You will be charged a lot more than the prices you saw in the menu. We were 9 people who ordered food and drinks. Those who had whiskey got also a glass of tap water. We asked if we can get some more tap water, because we saw that everywhere people are drinking the water and other restaurants and cafes are also serving tap water.

At the end we were charged for that tap water 6 or 7 euros for one bottle.

Plus, in the middle of our meal the waiters asked if we want to try Pelinka. She asked this as if it was on the house. Didn't mention how much is it. Five of us said sure, let's try it, out of politeness, and they got the beverage in tiny glasses, like one sip, and we were charged 8 eur per glass. Which is ridiculous as later we saw that one big bottle of the same drink was under 6 eur in the store.

That was unpleasant surprise when the check arrived, together with the 13% service they changed us which is a tip they haven't deserved.

Be careful about the prices and what you...

We checked in to the bouquet hotel recently and needed some dinner. The concierge suggested that we exit the hotel turn right, go to the corner and turn right one block down you will find a neighborhood of restaurants. So we did

After checking a few out we returned to the one that had the most local people sitting at it. It is a sure sign of good food. When traveling eat where the locals eat. So we did. And thank GOD we did!

Atmosphere A+,. Service fast and friendly A+, Outdoor setting A+, Cleanliness A+ Quality A+, And finally Value A+

I would recommend this establishment to everyone I know. My wife and I ordered the couples sampler platter everything on the plate was delicious!

It starts with a Hungarian goulash soup! Amazingly delicious! Then a large platter for two to share with spritsail, Hungarian sausage, a delicious grilled chicken breast, beef-stew and some sauerkraut. The portion was very satisfying. So I encourage you to try it. I’m sure you will agree and you will be coming back with your family and friends again and...

The level of service this place provides is difficult to match. We were 2+2 (2 adults 2 kids) and we all wanted to try out the 2 person plate and there was no problem making this be a 3 person plate WHILE also dividing the 3rd in two halves for the kids. The food was fantastic. We came back the next day for hortobágy palacsinta and it was just as amazing as the food we had the first day.

There isn't too much noise in the area and it's very much suitable for anyone irrelevant of age.

There is a wide variety of items on the menu to choose from as well, and there is a certainty that something on the menu will suit your tongue. The menu also has pictures which makes it even easier to choose something for both kids and whoever is more comfortable with a visual representation of a dish.

As a final note, the lady at the entrance is a major reason why we decided to go for this location (and return the next day). She was lovely and well versed in English as well (I myself speak Hungarian, but the rest of the family does not).

Highly...
