We were in Hévíz a city with natural peat-bedded warm-water lake, unique in Europe.||Unfortunately, we proved to be unworthy of it, because we were found to be a Hungarian, intellectual family with small children, and not the expected, say, lower middle-class, older, preferably foreign, sample guest. The 3 stars proved to be a lot of things in the hotel, as did the holiday rating above 8, which was advertised as kid-friendly. Computer frozen on arrival. A long, growling line. Then a broken, closed garage door. Quarrelsome people, the arriving mechanic told my son that he was a dick hat. He then denied this to the reception manager, who said the thing wasn't even said, the mechanic was his friend, the normal man. So we don't, we lie. But he still waived the parking fee for one car. Anyway, we could learn to behave, if we paid 35,000 HUF per night and did not come here with a timeshare, we would appreciate this place: "It is not mandatory to come here, go to camping instead." Maybe he was right, because it doesn't happen in the tent that the couch in the quadruple room can't be opened, so there's no need to change rooms with half-sleeping little kids around 9 p.m., and my other son don't have to ask for another room because of the unbearable sewer odor emanating from the drain. Or the cleaning aunt doesn't explode into the little ones she's just put to sleep at two o'clock on a Sunday afternoon, screaming to take the trash. ||The conclusion must be drawn: never again...
Read moreThe best things that I will say is that Heviz is a lovely town, and the man at the front desk was friendly and tried to help as best he could. Perhaps we would have had a better stay if we'd booked at Hotel Kalma instead of their subsidiary Aparthotel Heviz, but our stay at the Aparthotel Heviz was the worst lodging I've had since boot camp, and that's even questionable. It was listed as a one bedroom unit, however the room was so narrow that they couldn't even put two single beds next to one another, so my wife and I were at opposite ends of the room. The first unit they assigned to us wreaked of smoking, so we asked to change rooms and the front desk person gave us a different room that didn't stink, though later someone was smoking in an adjacent room with their door propped open. We complained about that, and it seemed to fix that problem. The room was stifling hot with old outdated furniture. Honestly, I think this place must have been a nursing home or summer camp at some point in time, as it was not laid out like a room or condo, and instead of having a table and chairs, there was a counter that bordered the wall of the entire main room. It was stifling hot with no AC and only 2 small fans. We coped with it by being out and about and in the room as little as possible. I still can't believe that RCI offers this place as a timeshare. Read moreThe hotel itself need some renovations. TV are abt 15-20 years old. Location is good and abt 5 minutes from the lake. At lake complex the temperature inside the building was very cold /abt 20-22 degrees/and after swimming it was necessary to put on warm clothes and to drink warm tea. All discussions with administaration /information desk, administrator, manager/did not change situation even to do something with windows through which the cold air came inside and they had big holes which were possible to close if the temperature could not be increased by heating the building. All previous years at the same period the temperature inside was abt 27 degrees which was comfortable to feel yourself after swimming. This year we were forsed to go away after swimming in order not to catch the flew and at the end loose hours for visits which were prepaid at the beginning. Therefore if you are not interested to relax at cold building it is better not to buy 20 hours visit but to pay only for 10 hours and than to have a decision as ...
