The hotel is centralized to most tourist locations in Mumbai (Gateway of India, the Taj Hotel, cricket grounds, Fashion Street, railway station, Café Leopold) including cafes, restaurants, Starbucks Reserve, Burger King and McDonald's. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, the buffet breakfast had a wide variety of both Western and Indian foods, and they had a varied room service menu (the butter chicken, okra, and roti were amazing!)||It should be noted that although this hotel is extremely clean and safe with a 24-hour manned front desk, it's an old building in an older part of the city where there's some small businesses but it's now mostly residential. Not to mention that unfortunately as of November 2023, there is extensive roadway construction outside (not sure if that's still taking place). This is NOT a grand, luxurious Western hotel, but it also doesn't NEED to be. The staff constantly are offering water, coffee, tea, fresh juices, newspapers, maps, tour guides, and if they don't have what you need, they will find it for you. They also know the safest drivers, tour guides, and places to eat locally. ||The rooms were clean, basic, had toiletries (Dove brand), and supplied guests with unlimited bottled water. Because of the more "side street" location plus the construction, this is better for people from India who speak the languages, Western backpackers, people who have previously traveled to India and are okay with crowds and noise, or those who are only using the room to sleep and then take a car to the airport. ||The rooms are extremely small for two people, and we had to keep our suitcases closed the entire time. I would not recommend this hotel for those with children, babies, those with specific medical needs, or wheelchair access (they have an elevator, but it's very small). However, if you're fine with a no-frills room that you're just using to shower, change, and sleep, it's perfectly fine. We were able to walk to the Taj Hotel, the waterfront, the Arch, and along side streets to buy souvenirs and snacks during the day. ||The staff and owners truly take pride in their work and care about people having a good time during their stay. Their enthusiasm and kindness really helped during our check-in, check-out and stay. We also utilized them for picking us up from the airport. Make sure to have cash to tip the drivers and people carrying your luggage. They work HARD for their money. If you want to stay in an older building and see what "real" India is like, then stay here. The lobby is manned 24 hours a day and also has security cameras. I did not feel unsafe in this...
Read moreThe staff in this hotel are amazing. They really do want to please you and for your stay to be a good one. The main issues we had was some of the rooms (we stayed in the Club Double) are quite old with many rusty or non functioning pieces of equipment.
What is really bad and frustrating is the internet, despite mentioning it a number of times nothing seems to change so that made our stay a bit more difficult having to either keep logging in again or moving to another part of the room to get a signal. Switching off the WIFI icon on the phone/ipad and then switching it back on a hoping for the best. They also only give you a code for two devices so if you have more than that you have to get more codes and even then if you are in a Club room your code does not work in the main hotel. WHY they have to make it so difficult for guests I just don’t know.
This was I guess quite a modern hotel at one time with bedside switches on a wall unit that operate the lights etc but most did not work. The location is good BUT with all the road works going on for the metro 3 getting a taxi back to the hotel can be difficult unless the driver knows the back streets - we have on a number of occasions been dropped some distance from the hotel as the driver could not get to the hotel!! And some drivers just would not take us.
The breakfast room only holds a few guests so if you go down for breakfast at the “wrong” time then you have to sit and wait for some time for other guests to vacate their breakfast table (you will be asked once you have finished you last sip of coffee etc to vacate your table) which is all a bit of a rush.
They also try to push the tours a lot and from our experience (from visiting Mumbai previously) they are not very good.
Having said all the above the rooms are clean BUT the best addition of this hotel is the staff. They are all amazing and really do go out of their was to be pleasant, helpful, professional and friendly, they are what...
Read moreGood hotel, breakfast is decent, but you’ll leave the breakfast room smelling of grease. I had to shower and change after having breakfast. So for this I only had the breakfast once. I was given their room on the top floor which was pretty big (upgraded), but you could never have your curtains open because the staff was always on that terrace next to the room. Bed was comfortable, you have to pay for water, bathroom was nice. I had one of their suites I believe, but otherwise standard rooms seemed pretty small. Staff is very nice, they always greeted me with a smile. I had a welcome drink when I checked in, I stayed here I think 3 nights, maybe 4. The hotel is very central, you’re within walking distance to everything. Now, when it comes to room service, the advertise on their website being 24/7 and because I work late from my laptop, sometimes I forget to eat so I called room service at 11:15ish pm and they said the restaurant is closed, and they’re only selling drinks (coffee, tea, water and juices) luckily there was a place next door opened very late. The other think I don’t like, is that their laundry service is not theirs, they contracted the people next door, which you will have to pay for when the clothing is delivered... you can’t charge it to your room. In addition, that laundry service place ruined my clothes, they made holes in every single piece of my clothes because they wash your clothes with everybody else’s!! GROSS!!! When I got my clothes back, every piece of them had a tag with a number on it, and my clothes smelled like sewage! The smell won’t go away. For this I am deducting a star from my review, the hotel should not advertise laundry services, if they don’t provide it, instead they should say “Laundry room next door to hotel,...
