Pathetic is something I can describe about this hotel. I am sure that the ratings given to this hotel are either fake or it has got good stars because of its location. I must admit that the hotel is located at a fantastic location. It is just opposite to the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. You have Starbucks right in front, you get an amazing view of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the colaba Citywalk market is just right in front and most importantly it is near to the Gateway of India and good food joints like Delhi Darbar. Full marks to the location.
But, let's get straight to the most important things which I would expect from a 3-star hotel. I paid almost 6000 rupees for the stay and trust me it's not worth it. I would not pay more than a 1000 or 1500 for a place like this. The people at the reception welcomed and were professional. The elevator and the so called lobby is smelly. The room was just okay with not best of set up though it is spacious. The wifi signal was terribly poor and I could just not use it. Thanks to Jiofi which made it easy for us. Now, comes the most problematic part. After keeping out luggage, we booked a cab to go out for shopping but the door would not close and it was stuck. The staff wanted us to go out and they would get the work done by the time we return but we didn't want to play the blame game later on as it was clearly mentioned that management is not responsible for the loss of valuables. The staff was very cooperative and somehow managed to fix the temporary problem which I appreciate.
Now, I would like someone to take this matter seriously. As I love Amul Everyday powder, I just galloped it without wasting any time and trust me it tastes like some chemical and thankfully I had not swallowed it. I ran straight to the washroom and checked my tongue and the white powder was just red and brown. I lt looked scary. I spat everything and rushed to check the expiry date and it was expired almost a year back in 2018. I have attached the picture in the review. I rushed towards reception and showed them the sachet and they were very sorry about it. The people at the reception werecourtwo courteous and accepted the mistake. I feel that it is owners fault. They either don't pay the staff well or is compromising on the quality because of the location. Mister owner of Diplomat Hotel, kindly take it seriously. Even your complimentary buffet is worthless. I paid 7500 with taxes for The Lalit Mumbai with breakfast and all amenities. This is unacceptable as you are...
Read moreI want to rate this 3.5 or something but less than 4. The thing which is good for this hotel is the location, very close to the gateway of India and just behind the famous Taj hotel. If still confused, use Google map and it will take you to the door. The hotel is clean, reception is good, and check-in was also good. Anyways, I was late so can't say about early check-in or smoothness in similar cases. For two people two water bottles are complimentary per day, rest you need to buy 30 Rs + GST. If ordering water after 11 pm, you may have to sleep thirsty as it can take a good amount of time. Something that happened to me. Now in-room food service, rates are high, the taste is good but quantity is just too less. Especially Dal fry for 250 Rs and believe me not enough even for a single person. One thing which is good about the hotel, ordering from swiggy, making advance payment and asking the delivery guy to leave the parcel at the reception. They send the swiggy/Zomato food to the room and that too promptly.I think there are no bells in the room, if you order something service guys will knock the room and try to open it which is really weird. One shouldn't be trying to open the room. If no response simply use the phone or ask reception to call in the room. I would suggest keeping the doors locked, it was really something weird and happened every time when the order came to the room. Keep cash handy, they will not bring a card machine, and if you ask them to include the bill in your room so it can be paid out while checkout, they will ask you to call reception and confirm the same. That is too cumbersome. Not sure about the reason but normal practice is guests will order and it will be included in the room and final payment made at the checkout. I was running out of cash but somehow managed to make a payment due to all this fuss. What you get in the room is 3 single beds, good window AC, TV with sufficient channels, closet, electric kettle, tea coffee sachets.the washroom is ok but small, towels, soap and shower cap is given. Shampoo and shower gel is in the dispenser which was almost empty. Housekeeping needs to check it while making the room. The biggest disappointment is the breakfast, I mean seriously there is nothing in the breakfast. sheera (halwa) very poor, cutlets, poori bhaji tea/coffee. One can ask for bread butter and live counter only omelette. No parantha dosa or...
Read moreI had booked a stay for 9 days. Location was easy to find. Hotel is situated on the 3rd and 4th floor. Lift can be used during the day and stairs during night. I approached reception and said i had made a reservation through MMT. The persion manning the reception stared at me as if I had spoken to him in mayan language. Soon I found out that more than 95% of visitors come there and book the room on spot, based on availability. They still run the old-school style ledger for all booking and so on. The staff are courteous and friendly. I got to my room and was quite happy with what I saw. Clean mattress, large room, locker facility within the room (although you won't be able to fit your entire luggage bag & you have to bring your own lock), a mirror, a place to dry your clothes, and finally a balcony. There are some rooms with bigger balconies with better views. Room is cleaned once a day. Bedsheets and pillow covers will be changed upon request. There are ac and non-ac rooms. Bathrooms and toilets were cleaned and maintained decently. One might feel cramped for space when using the bathroom and toilet. Extra toiletries are available at reasonable rates. Hot water facility is provided. As the name suggests, there is a whole heritage vibe going on in there. There's kitchen with amenities like cutlery, microwave, stove, fridge, water purifier, and a small dining table. Few years back, they used to serve food there but not anymore. Then there is the recreation area, kind of a living room where people can come out and socialise or just spend time. There's tv with many channels. The wifi gives below average speed. Manager Ajit comes to the property once a week. Would i recommend this hotel? - Yes. Would i stay here...
