It’s Mumbai not Bombay (my bad) You can’t miss on these if you’re going to Mumbai ✨ Both of these are the oldest food spots in Mumbai and has been amongst local’s favourite go to place. 1. ASHOK VADA PAV: Set aside the hype, they truly does make a delicious snack, what with him having created another version to it too, fondly called the choora pav {he mixes the choora with chutney and stuffs it in the pav}. There are many reasons why no other vada pav can match the standards this man has set, mainly because for over two decades, his vada pav has consistently been tasting the same. 2. LEOPOLD CAFE: If you’re heading to the Colaba District then you cannot miss a visit to the famous Leopold Cafe in Mumbai. Leopold Cafe is famous for being one of the original Irani cafés in the city. #bombay #mumbai #mumbaifood #reelsindia #reelsinstagram

Leopold Cafe in Mumbai is an eclectic mix of history, gastronomy, and vibrant culture, making it a beacon for both locals and travelers from distant lands. Stepping into Leopold's is like entering a bustling crossroads of the world, where the air is thick with conversations in myriad languages and the aroma of delectable dishes and pastries fills the senses. The cafe's menu is a delightful journey through flavors, with its pastries taking center stage for those with a sweet tooth. Each pastry seems to tell its own story, perfectly baked and exquisitely presented, tempting even the most discerning of palates. The combo offerings are a testament to Leopold's understanding of a perfect meal; starters paired with beer and rounded off with a slice of their heavenly cheesecake make for an unforgettable dining experience. The cheesecake, creamy and rich, yet with a light crust, might just be Mumbai's finest, a bold claim in a city known for its culinary diversity. The environment of Leopold Cafe adds to its charm. Buzzy and ever-crowded, especially with foreigners seeking to soak in the local ambiance, the cafe vibrates with an energy that's infectious. It's a place where stories are shared over glasses of beer, and laughter is as common as the clinking of cutlery. Despite the constant throng, the bouncers manage the crowd with a grace and efficiency that's nothing short of remarkable, ensuring everyone finds a spot in this beloved space. Their management and hospitality are executed with such finesse that it feels almost like a well-rehearsed dance, ensuring a seamless experience for every guest. The efficiency of the staff is truly puzzling, operating at 200 percent to make sure that every need is met before it's even expressed, making each visit not just a meal, but an event. It's this well-oiled machinery of hospitality and the kaleidoscope of flavors that make Leopold Cafe not just a restaurant, but a ancient vibing landmark in destination. A visit here is not just about eating; it's about immersing yourself in the heart of Mumbai's spirited lifestyle, making memories that linger long after the last bite of cheesecake has been savored.

Leopold cafe is one of the most iconic Iranian cafés in Mumbai. It is more than 150 years old and has been a part of the local culture. It was associated with Shantaram book and is one of the places where the horrific Mumbai attacks happened. The bullet holes are visible on the walls of the place. The review for my visit for a sunday brunch with a group of 11 people is as below:

Ambiance: They have two sections the upper floor is for couples as much as I know. We took seat on the main ground floor. The ambiance is vibrant with walls covered with tin paintings and bullet marks from Mumbai attack. The place is buzzing with people sitting close to each other and enjoying the meals and drinks they offer.

Drinks: We ordered two towers of Budweiser from the tap as we were a big group. The same was served in no time and was cold. Though I personally feel towers make the beer less fizzy and having by glass or pint is always better. Due to being in a big group it made more sense for a tower.

Food: We all ordered separate dishes, which was not that great an idea as the portion size is quite big. We had leopold special pasta penne and leopold special spaghetti one with chicken and one with prawns (it was mix sauce pasta and was nice, the portion size is big but as we were hungry we could finish the same) we also ordered the steak bun which was a huge buff burger cut in four pieces. The food was tasty and nice no complains from my side.

Service: The staff is polite and super fast, they are very attentive and was able to take our order of 11 people without even a single mistake. The food was served quickly and was hot and fresh from the kitchen.

Cost: Our meal for 11 costed us 15000 INR which is like 1350 per person including beer and each with a separate dish to eat. It is reasonable as per me.

Overall if you in Mumbai and in town area don’t miss this historic place, the vibe of the...
