The Legendary Gokul Bar and Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Colaba behind the iconic Taj Hotel, has long been a go-to destination for many, myself included. It was my favorite spot during my days of working in the town. Recently, I revisited Gokul, hoping to relive those cherished memories. However, I couldn’t help but notice how much the place has changed over time. Ambiance and Setup -- The bar’s once vibrant charm now feels a bit worn out. The top AC section was under renovation, while the bottom section had a strong, unpleasant alcohol odor. The staff directed us to the non-AC section, where we were fortunate to get a table immediately. Unfortunately, the legendary Gokul vibe seemed to have faded. The environment was chaotic—diners were shouting to place their orders, and the air was filled with a sense of disorganization. Adding to the discomfort, the service staff appeared sluggish and overwhelmed. Service Experience -- It took 10-15 minutes just to get hold of a menu, a delay that set the tone for the rest of our experience. Despite the crowd, the lack of coordination and slow service was hard to overlook. Even the manager was audibly reprimanding staff, adding to the sense of disarray. Food Experience -- Once we finally placed our order, things started to improve. For starters, we went with the Chicken Pahadi Kebab. The kebabs were juicy, well-marinated, and flavorful, offering a nostalgic glimpse of the Gokul I once loved. For the main course, we tried their Chicken Biryani and Veg Singapore Fried Rice. Both dishes were satisfying in their own ways. The biryani had a good balance of spices, while the fried rice offered a unique blend of flavors that hit the right notes. Despite the service hiccups, the food remained Gokul’s saving grace. Notable Observations -- A curious detail worth mentioning: they charge ₹24 for Schezwan Sauce and Green Chutney each—a small but notable change. Overall Experience -- Gokul Bar and Restaurant, once a legendary haunt, seems to have lost its former glory. The slow service, chaotic atmosphere, and overpowering smell of alcohol detract from the overall experience. However, the food still holds up, delivering the flavors that many have come to love over the years. If you’re in Colaba, it’s worth visiting Gokul for the nostalgia and to experience its historic legacy—just be prepared for some compromises along the way.

The epitome of a shady bar, Gokul embraces and amplifies its seedy aesthetic - to the point wherein visiting is an experience in itself. Everything from the dim blue and red lights, the smell of spilled alcohol and the loud Bollywood music is calculated to add atmosphere to what would otherwise be a rather sad watering hole. The drinks are deceptively expensive - so don't let the seedy-bar-disguise lull you into a sense of complacency. The chakhna (little munchies) are delicious - and authentically down-to-earth. Try the Chinese Bhel, and the chicken pakodas. Found in one of the most upmarket areas of Bombay, literally in the shadow of the Taj, Gokul is a pleasant deviation from the picture perfect cafe's and boutiques that surround it. As is traditional after a drink at Gokul, head to BadeMiya for a Kebab roll, and then stroll down to the waterfront to round off the night.

I recently visited Gulol Bite restaurant with my friends, and I have to say that it was an outstanding dining and drinking experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional - our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about both the food and drinks.

The atmosphere at Gulol Bite is unbeatable - it's the perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends. The modern and stylish decor, combined with the warm lighting, creates a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance. We had a fantastic time enjoying our drinks and meal while listening to great music and soaking up the beautiful surroundings.

Speaking of the food and drinks, they were simply amazing! We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was expertly prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The lamb kebabs were a standout dish - cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. And the drinks were equally impressive, the mixologist at Gulol Bite really knows how to make a great cocktail. I highly recommend trying their signature margarita - it's simply delicious!

Overall, I would highly recommend Gulol Bite to anyone looking for an exceptional dining and drinking experience with friends. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is unbeatable, and the food and drinks are absolutely amazing. It's definitely one of the best...

This is a perfect restaurant for Couple and friends i'll not recommend this for families at all because general crowd is not that great if you may chose AC section which is non smoking then you may go with your family but that section also is not that good for family

For Friends oh what can I say this is a perfect restaurant for friends to party of hangout having drinks the food basically is too cheap as compared to its location because it is behind the Hotel Taj and at the front to Gate way of India near bar stock exchange there are two AC sections one of them is smoking and one is non smoking zone the one which is smokers section is just indescribable its just amazing that room is all dark and just your table has light all the rest is dark you may not be able to see your partners face that dark it is so it feels great to have drink sitting there all the types of drinks are available and yes this restaurant is in front of the famous kabab center The Bademiya every section has TV and staff is also very calm and co-operating you can enjoy here with girl no issues the line above particularly because the ac section is always filled with girls so you can enjoy here without any tension parking may not be available thank you very...
