Harish Lunch Home — Restaurant in Mumbai

I am a hard-core konkani and never eat fish out of home. However this is the only place I eat seafood at, and am a regular over here. The complementary fish curry and brown rice itself can beat the quality of those being served in any of the upmarket seafood joint. Any fish here is no comparison to other place and all that great experience without having to burn a big hole in your wallet. . Since I have been visiting the place for over 20 years now, I am friend with most of the servers here. Especially Prema Anna who is the most instrumental figure behind their great menu, as he is the one who sets out to the fish jetty in the wee hours to source the fresh catch which becomes the virtue of the tables for the daily diners.

However what the seafood lovers miss here is...

In its class, Harish Lunch Home is probably the best restaurant in Bombay. The particular outlet I visit is besides the spaces vacated by the now defunct Strand Book Stall. It serves alcohol and caters a clientele drawn from Bombay's business districts. The food is simple; there are no MasterChef pretensions here. Which is also why the food is utterly fresh, nutritious and cooked plainly without embellishments aimed at television wannabe cooks and Anglo-Vernacular gourmands. Eat at Harish to satisfy your hunger. Eat here to partake of the simplicity and elegance of South Indian non-vegetarian cuisine. I've given Harish Lunch Home 5 stars. I would give it 10 if Google permitted...

This tiny but amazing joint is sure to take true Manglorean food lovers down memory lane. It certainly did for one of us bringing back memories of past delectable authentic home food Manglorean style. So at this stop we ordered their Surmai Fry, their Mutton Sukha and Kori Roti. While all three completed hit the spot, the Surmai and Mutton took the cake. Surmai was extremely fresh, perfectly spiced and cooked perfectly. The Mutton was cooked to a 'Melt in Mouth' consistency and was prepared in thick coconut based gravy. The Kori Roti was well presented with authentic flavors.
