Authentic Japanese ramen is usually synonymous with pork broth. However, Seirock Ya serves authentic Japanese ramen that has been certified Halal by the MUI. Seirock Ya itself is an authentic Japanese restaurant specializing in ramen. This food stall first opened its branch in Indonesia, marking its first overseas branch. Seirock Ya's various menus immediately became a hit among ramen lovers in Indonesia.
DJ Izuru Ozeki, the owner of Seirock Ya, stated that he wants all Indonesians, including Muslims, to be able to taste authentic Japanese ramen.
Looking at the menu, ramen is undoubtedly the star. Especially the Toripaitan Ramen, which is 100% made from chicken. There are Toripaitan Ramen Shoyu, Shio, Miso, and Extreme. Additionally, there are Tokyo Ramen, Hokkaido Ramen, and Tsukemen. After selecting, the server notes our order using a sophisticated gadget.
Seirock-ya Special Gyoza served as the appetizer. Gyoza can be filled with chicken or shrimp. They can be fried or steamed. We chose the chicken gyoza, which was steamed. Six pieces of steamed gyoza were served on a white plate. These gyoza have a thin, soft skin that is crispy on the grilled side. The filling consists of minced chicken and vegetables. The gyoza has a delicious spicy flavor due to the use of chili peppers. The soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar dipping sauce enhance the flavor of the gyoza.
The first sip of the broth alone made me fall in love with the Extreme Ramen. It has a rich, creamy, and slightly oily texture. The flavors of soy sauce and miso are noticeable on the tongue. However, the chicken broth flavor dominates the broth. Although the chicken flavor is strong, it doesn’t taste like soup broth. It’s truly delicious!
The flat noodles are also soft and smooth. They taste even better when eaten with the ramen broth. The tender chashu topping and other accompaniments are also delicious. The addition of chili powder and chili oil makes the dish even more appealing to my taste...
Read moreCame just for a quick dinner as it was close to the cinema and it's a hassle free dish that can be served quickly. I ordered Tori Paitan extreme with eggs as the staff said it was the thickest soup, and chose the normal ramen. I actually didn't expect much since i usually prefer tonkotsu as most of them has thicker soup. But i was pleasantly surprised that Seirock-ya managed to nail a really deep flavour in Tori Paitan ramen soup. It raised the bar for how Tori paitan ramen must be done! Add a squeeze of the lemon to give more brightness to it. A 10/10 for tori paitan, it's on par with any tonkotsu ramen, i have yet to find a thicker, deeper flavour for chicken based ramen in Jakarta.
On another visit I tried Tantan Ramen, which was served with a scoop of minced chicken and tantan paste. Still the same delightful broth and a bit spicy heat from the tantan paste, so so good.
For the side dish, the gyoza is standard. The chicken nanban was juicy and creamy, so I suggest...
Read moreProbably the best when it comes to chicken-based ramen in Jakarta. I'm personally more a fan of pork-based ramen (tonkotsu), but Seirock-Ya is amazing.
I love how they allow customers to choose noodle type and hardness. I personally picked the thick noodles with a half-cooked hardness (al dente). It came out perfect and chewy with a great texture. The soup base was great too and rich in flavor. The only complaint I have is the dryness of the chicken breast fillets. It felt like they weren't brined enough and were perhaps slightly overcooked. So they felt like a hard dehydrated piece of rubber. But the soup and noodles made up for what they lack in chicken meat quality.
It's definitely not a place to "chill" like most ramen shops in Japan. It's a place to eat and to eat only. The place is quite packed and tables were squeezed together with little space in between. I also had to wait around 20 minutes before I was able to be seated.
Overall, a great chicken ramen...
