I am a regular at Hotel Marco’s. I travel here multiple times a year from New York, USA. The staff treats me like a family. The Hotel Marco’s owners also owns the restaurant on the ground flour called Ristorante Funiculare and another restaurant two doors down called Fontana D’Oro and El Sombrero which is in the city center about 10 minutes fun walk which I enjoy all greatly! The rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly. I enjoy having my breakfast and morning espresso at the terrace which is included in the price. The main owner Senior Ihsan Gungor is a world class master chef who is behind the scenes. I attended many of his cooking classes where he taught in New York. The food is amazing at all their restaurants and restaurants are extremely clean. Some of my favorites are Octopus Carpaccio, Frutti de Marre, Grigliata di Pesce, Bistecca, pizza is super crisp and light, Misto Mare and the most special is “Whole Branzino cooked in Salt” on a special request which they would make it for me every time. Be aware the weekends are extremely busy and I would suggest reserving a table in advance when you book your room. Lago di Como is one of the heavens on earth and many thanks to GUNGOR family to make me feel like at home away from home! Grazie Mille!!

Hotel Marcos is all about the view—and it definitely delivers! The rooms on the view side come with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake, which makes for a beautiful and relaxing experience. However, the charm is slightly overshadowed by the smell from the kitchens downstairs, which occasionally drifts up and can be a bit annoying. The staff were outstanding—super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their service really made a difference during our stay. The breakfast was quite basic, and while it covered the essentials, it could definitely use some improvement, especially given the potential this hotel has. One thing to note: the hotel is only two floors but has no elevator, which might be a consideration for guests with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Overall, it’s a cozy place with fantastic views and excellent staff—but with a few small improvements, it could be even better

A good choice for its price. We went to Como in a very busy weekend, and Marco’S was one of the most affordable hotels close to the shore. The hotel is quite simple, but it is located in one of the best spots in town. Right in front of the water, close to the funicolare. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. It is a short walk to reach the city center. The rooms were quite simple, but had an amazing view of the lake. The staff were friendly. We used their parking space, which was located a few blocks from the hotel. The breakfast was fairly good, served in the restaurant below the hotel. They had some fruits/eggs, some pastries options, Nutella and a very good cappuccino. Overall, a good experience. Would return if I found the price reasonable.

We informed the hotel that we would be arriving late as our flight time had changed ( they said that was fine as reception is 24hrs) we got a taxi direct from Malapensa airport so it was 1am the lad was lovely but took our passports and then started tapping into the computer for ages - in the end we said can’t you just show us to our room and give us our passports back tomorrow.||3 other staff finishing in the kitchen etc came through and said he was new so it would take a while!, then he had to go back down to reception 3 times as the keys were not opening the door to our room.||Once the door open ended we were so disappointed it was the smallest room possible barely room to get round the bed and a small window was a lake view but not what we thought we would get for the money,||Shower was tiny cubicle room was very basic. ( it was clean and the bed and bedding fine.) ||At 250 euros a nigh B & B we were hoping for much better.- a premier inn room is more spacious and nicer!||We paid a premium for a lake view room but it was over roof tops and a small window in corner of the room!||The WiFi was annoying you had to keep login in as it cut out after 5 mins.||Breakfast was very limited -a few cornflakes, toaster for bread, rolls, eggs / salami but you had to lay the table your self and find all the cutlery, etc you needed keep asking for napkins etc.||The only outside space is tables at front and it’s the last hotel and furthest from the centre of Como town.||It is next to the funicular so that was handy.||The staff were very friendly but this was the only plus point of the hotel - we would not go back for these...

Hospitable, no. Location nice, room tolerable, food mediocre, customer service is horrible. Went for a wedding nearby & thought this would be a nice place to stay. Wrong. Not only mediocre everything, but also some jeans were left in the room. I contacted the hotel through hotel.com since that’s how I booked, and the hotel located the jeans, however, they won’t help to send them back to me even when I’ve offered to give them my credit card & pay in advance (I’d never expect them to pay for that). The one & only way they’ll send them is if I get a courier to pick them up. I checked with 3 couriers and only one would even give me a price, still with difficulty, at a whopping $250.00 USD (the jeans were the same price) so that is utterly ridiculous.

I’ve practically begged the hotel to use their regular courier service with advance payment & they refuse to do so.

Another thing was I asked the desk to call a taxi for me for the wedding & the clerk said she was doing it. What she failed to tell me is that she was not getting a response se do she left us sitting there for nearly 30 minutes while we were nervously awaiting either missing or being very late for the wedding. Only when I asked her what was the status did she say she hadn’t reached a taxi. We ended up having to run out the door immediately and run to the venue in our long dresses in the rain. How awful that was!! We missed the very beginning of the wedding and looked like wet rats. So much for being in the hospitality industry. ...
