I wish I could give Hotel Savoy additional stars. Five star hotels across the world are not equal and our trip, which has included only five star hotels, has illustrated that point to us again. A stay is not simply about luxury but also about a level of service and the small details which add up to a big difference in quality and experience. Hotel Savoy ‘gets it.’ |We stayed in a beautiful one bedroom suite which included a large living room, bedroom, and beautifully appointed bathroom. The high ceilings of our room were lovely and the decor of the spaces were lovely. Evening turndown brought both still and sparkling waters, slippers, and night cream - what a thoughtful touch. We were delighted by the fresh fruit and flowers as well as the local wine and chocolate which greeted us as well.|Here is where the small details stood out: upon arriving back to our suite I found that each pair of my reading glasses was placed on a small cleaning cloth. Bookmarks were carefully placed in our books. My makeup was placed on a fresh linen. This shows an attention to detail which we have not experienced at our other ‘five star’ hotels’ this stay and it has made a big difference in my opinion of the hotel.|The staff of the property were each very friendly and helpful, offering ideas for restaurants and places to see, even offering to unpack and then repack our suitcases. We did not encounter one person who did not smile. |Breakfast was perfect for us as lighter eaters. There is the option to order additional hot items if the buffet is not enough. I personally found the pastries to be incredibly delicious! The bar/lounge was also comfortable and enjoyable for an afternoon drink and nightcap.|We have been to Florence before and stayed at the Four Seasons, which is also lovely but not centrally located. The central location put the Savoy, in our opinion, especially when factored with the great service and beautiful accommodation, above that other experience. I had begun to wonder if ‘five stars’ was not what it used to be….the Hotel Savoy restored my faith and made our stay in Florence even better than we could...
Read moreWe called the hotel to organize a car for us since we got in near midnight. We were told there would be taxis outside the train station. We ended up walking with our bags on cobble because there were limited to no taxis. First bad experience. 2. We asked to upgrade right as we checked in. He said there were no rooms available (I knew there was because I could see their website on my phone). Next morning, I called reception and he showed us this suite. Decorations are lacking. Feels like a hotel you stay in when you’re on a quick road trip. Not a luxury room at all! There was another premier room available online (less expensive than the suite he showed me) for our desired days. I asked to see it and he said “don’t book it because you would need to move rooms every night.” Imagine another person booking this??? It doesn’t seem right. He was most likely lying. 3. Our rooms were NOT as shown on pictures. The bathrooms were old (not the beautiful white/gray marble you see as advertised. Our faucet made noises. Black stuff came out from shower (assuming mold). Our bathroom was so small it was hard for one person to move inside. This is nowhere near a 5 star! 4. We asked concierge to help make reservations for us for dinner or rooftops. They would never tell us that our desired restaurant was full unless we went downstairs to ask about it. A slip under the door, email, or phone call is 5k star service. They could never get us in to any desired restaurant either. 5. Service is not what you expect paying $1.5k a night for their BASIC room. Stay somewhere else! It is not worth your money. Location is great but so many other beautiful hotels...
Read moreOur stay at Hotel Savoy in Florence was absolutely unforgettable! My family and I had the pleasure of staying for four days and three nights, and every moment was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, we were greeted with warm smiles, and the service we received throughout our stay was consistently outstanding. No request was too big or too small; the staff was always quick to serve and say yes, no matter the time or need.
Simone, the manager, clearly has an incredible gift for leadership. She has done a remarkable job instilling a culture of excellence that is evident in every interaction with the staff. From Julia, Join Carlo, Geraldo, and Christian at the front desk, who made us feel immediately welcome, to Victorio, the concierge, who went above and beyond to secure us a reservation at the best Florentine steakhouse on a moment's notice—the service was impeccable. The restaurant staff treated us like royalty, clearly reflecting the strong relationships Hotel Savoy has built within the local community.
The facilities were stunning, and the food was absolutely fantastic. What truly set our stay apart, though, was the personalized care we received. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure our comfort and enjoyment, making our time in Florence truly special.
I can’t wait to return to Hotel Savoy and experience this level of service and care again. Thank you for making our stay so fabulous—we will certainly be back many more times...
