I booked my stay through Luxury Escapes and arrived at the hotel by taxi from the main train station. First impressions were quite positive — the check-in agent was fantastic: very friendly and helpful.||I wasn’t aware when booking that room servicing had to be specifically requested. This was explained to me at check-in, and the staff member kindly offered to schedule daily service, which I accepted. Still, I find it odd that a hotel charging upwards of $400 per night makes cleaning an opt-in service. Surely, making it opt-out would be more appropriate at this price point.||Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised. It was nicely laid out and felt quite modern. However, I found the key card system to be a bit troublesome and was surprised that there was no coffee machine — something that should really be standard in newer hotels.||At first glance, everything appeared fine, but looking closer, it became clear that corners had been cut. For example, the shower tiles were cracked, and sound insulation was poor — I could clearly hear guests in the room above. Still, this wasn’t my biggest concern.||Service was the real disappointment. Outside of reception, I found the service in the bar and restaurant to be extremely average. I was regularly ignored at breakfast, with no proactive service whatsoever. Even during off-peak times, this didn’t improve. I also had dinner at the hotel on the first night — a big mistake. The menu was odd, the food was, at best, average, and the service matched.||Finally, while the hotel itself is decent, its location isn’t ideal. You’re a solid 20-minute walk from Florence’s main attractions, and that distance also applies when trying to reach good restaurants or lively areas.||All in all, there’s quite a bit of room for...
Read moreWe arrived on a Sunday night and stayed at the Hoxton for six nights. Upon arrival there was no one to help with our luggage but the welcome desk was so kind and informative it made us excited for our stay ahead. Unfortunately, this enthusiasm did not last long. The hotel is stylish and cute, however, there is a lingering sulfur smell at all times on the ground floor. We were given a room on the first floor which was nice, however, it was quite warm so we opened the window to sleep (AC was off due to the season). Unfortunately at some point in the night people were outside making a lot of noise and smoking and the smoke came into our room making it impossible to sleep. We told the front desk the next day and they moved us to a higher floor with courtyard (and dumpster) view but room was nice. When it came time for sleep we had windows open again but this caused several mosquitos to enter the room which again prevented sleep. The front desk provided a solution for this but you still have to keep the room ventilated so window remained open. The next evening around 4AM there was a loud noise and HORRIBLE smell that lasted until 6:30AM (apparently they were doing sewage treatment), again, preventing sleep for a third night in a row. The beds are not comfortable so even without external issues we never got quality sleep. The breakfast buffet is very nice and there are staff taking coffee and egg orders. Regarding the service however some days we felt welcomed and some days we were barely acknowledged. We had one meal in the restaurant which was comped in an attempt to resolve our issues with our stay. We are glad they did because it was the worst meal we had during our 10-day trip. Please don’t waste...
Read moreI want to love this place. I really do. But..
First, the pros. A really nice property with a solid bar with great staff. A good shower, solid AC. Location is quiet.
The warnings: for good and for bad, you are a 20 minute walk from the tourist sites. There isn't alot happening up around the hotel. But when itmis 35 C every day, that walk to and from is something one should keep in mind. The room we had was designed in a late 80s motor, which is kind of curious. Didn't look cool.
The bad: the hotel feels a bit unfinished. A few fixtures in our room weren't screwed into the wall. The door leading from the hall to.oir.room was broken and the lock cover fell off. Little things like that. Lots of wasted space at the hotel. Huge seating areas inside and in the patio. Perfect opportunity for a small soaking pool outside was squandered. No onejis lounging outside for June, July, Aug and September daytime when it.is 35 c outside. Room choices were odd, like the blue thermostat light that stays on all night and the blue key receptacle in the room that does the same. Our room had a terrace and you cannot turn its lights off. So light comes into your room. A thick duvet.on the bed when it is 35 c outside and the room's AC, which was fine, is still not enough to cool the room. Crappy signage on how to get in and around the property. It was designed without much thought and not tested on that clients. Give me 10 minutes and a corporate head with a clipboard and I could tell them how to make it a real 4 star hotel and not the pricey 3 star hotel it is. Shame because some of...
