I will start by writing about the good details of this hotel, which was the location, the bed ( it was really comfortable) and the reception and breakfast staff which were all really nice and helpful. This hotel is a strange case, where it kind of seems like there was a lot of interest put in when it was made, as you can see from the modern design, but it has really gone downwards from there. It is really all show and no quality. One of the first things you will notice is that the hotel and the rooms are very dirty. There is dust everywhere and also some hairs in the shower. Also in the staircase while going up to the rooms there was tons of dust, ever wrappers thrown on the floor and cobwebs.. I had booked a double deluxe room, and it was on the first floor, right above the osteria. It was a nightmare, because you constantly heard banging from the restaurant and all the people talking very loudly. Generally the hotel rooms are not soundproof at all. I asked to change room because the noise was really unbearable, and the reception said there wasn't one available that night, but from tomorrow they changed me to a triple room on the 2nd floor, which was definitely and improvement. Still though I was waking up around 6.30 - 7 in the morning because there was a lot of sounds and banging outside our door.. The breakfast was inedible. Very low quality items, and also I saw tons of small flies sitting on the bread and that really put me off so I did not eat there again. The lady at the breakfast was really nice and a joyful presence though. We ate at the Osteria Oliva the first day we arrived for lunch, while we had an hour to spare before check in. The design of the place is really nice, again, very modern and cute. The food was quite bad though. We has as an appetizer the fiori di zucca , which was okay, 2 pastas ( quite bad and very heavy) and for secondo the saltimbocca di pollo which was quite bad. Clearly we did not eat there again. I really cannot understand, because it has quite a few people at night ( I dont know maybe they have a different chef at night.....). All in all, I definitely do NOT recommend staying here. It kind of ruined our stay in Rome, because it also quite expensive ( for what it is it is too expensive, definitely not worth it) The location is really nice, quite central, but not crawling with tourists, that is why the 2 stars. They need to take care of the quality of the breakfast and definitely need to work A LOT on the...
Read moreIt was a let down. We stayed in this hotel for 6 days and here’s our experience.
I’ll start with the Pros: The staff were friendly and professional The location was very convenient The rooms were clean The AC worked
Now for the main reason I’m writing this, the Cons: The breakfast was devastating. It lacked in flavor and variety; was honestly not worth the extra amount paid and truly inedible. I understand that it’s not an Italian “thing”, however hotels expect get guests from around the world and the minimum expectation would be for at least a breakfast that can sustain guests until lunch There was no time of day or night that you could get peace or quiet in this hotel. Whether it be the noise coming from outside or worse; the noise from within the hotel. Staff were literally RUNNING up and down the stairs and you could clearly hear every single guest talking or going up and down the stairs. So, forget about rest The Wi-Fi barely worked! We tried using our phones to connect, they told us it just wasn’t working for iPhones. We tried connecting computers or tablets and those failed to connect as well. We needed the Wi-Fi for work and other important tasks, let alone entertainment to distract from the noise, but for the 6 days there, we had at most an hour total of Wi-Fi If you’re expecting a Queen or King bed, forget about that. All the rooms have single beds that are either pushed together to make a “bigger” bed or left separated. The length is short and every slight movement pushes the beds apart The showers were very narrow with our second shower never even closing properly and always leaking onto the bathroom floor I would recommend staying away from the Osteria as it’s overhyped and overpriced for the most mediocre salty dishes I would urge the guests to double check the city tax amount, for a 3-star hotel each guest should be charged €4, however we were charged €78 instead of €48. They alleged it was due to a room change, however we weren’t informed that we’d have to pay an up charge for the room change, we only moved rooms due to the HORRIBLE noises, and the room provided was certainly not an upgrade from the original
*I know there’s an overwhelming amount of positive reviews and I could tell that the staff were trying their best, however believe me when I say it’s not worth it to stay here and management needs to be held...
Read moreThe hotel is located close to all the attractions. The Colleseum is a 10 minute walk and the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon are around 15 minutes. The location in the heart of the Monti district (which was Rome’s first neighbourhood) is an ideal location to stay given there is so much around the area. The only taxis we took were from the airport (€48 fixed fare) and to the Vatican (€12).
We were offered a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival at the Magasin Bar next door which included red wine white wine or Prosecco.
We stayed in a standard double room which was decorated in a slightly art deco format. The bed was a large double, we had a walk-in shower and complimentary shower gel and shampoo. There was also a helpful kit of items including earplugs, shower cap, cotton buds and a nail file.
One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for its fifth floor rooftop! There is seating inside and outside and the terrace is perfect for breakfast every day. You can also enjoy a drink in the evening on the rooftop from the magasin bar next to the hotel or just with a bottle from the supermarket! This was such a great spot to sit and chill out in the evening.
Breakfast on the rooftop is included in the room rate and is served from 7 am to 10 am Monday to Friday and 7 am to 11 am on weekends. You can choose from an array of Continental and cooked selection. This included fresh croissants, cakes, cereal, a spread of Italian meats, cheeses and breads and bacon and scrambled eggs.
This lovely boutique hotel in Rome really gives you the personal touch. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and wanted to make sure that the visit was perfect. Alexandra and her team checked in with us daily and always made it very clear that we could ask any questions. They also give you their own personal map with recommendations and beautiful handcrafted postcards. Reception is also 24 hours!
Don’t forget you have to pay a tourist tax of 4 euros pn/pp which can be paid on check out. This boutique hotel in Rome is the perfect place to spend three days in a brilliant location with amazing staff. The roof terrace made it feel special and we would highly recommend...
