From the moment we stepped inside, the warm, rustic ambiance enveloped us. The exposed brick walls, soft lighting, and the gentle murmur of conversation created a cozy and inviting atmosphere. But the real magic began when the musicians took the stage. The live music, a mix of classic Italian ballads, traditional folk songs, and even some familiar modern tunes with an Italian twist, was absolutely enchanting. The musicians were clearly passionate and talented, their voices filling the room with a soulful energy that was impossible to resist. It wasn't just background music; it was a performance that enhanced the entire dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. While the music was a highlight, the cuisine certainly held its own. We started with the classic bruschetta, perfectly toasted bread topped with fresh, ripe tomatoes and fragrant basil. For the main course, I opted for the cacio e pepe, a simple yet divine dish that showcased the quality of the ingredients. My partner chose the saltimbocca alla Romana, which was tender and flavorful. Both dishes were generously portioned and cooked to perfection. The service was also commendable. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations. He even indulged our attempts at speaking broken Italian with a patient smile. The wine list was extensive, featuring a good selection of local and regional wines, and our waiter helped us choose a delightful Frascati that paired perfectly with our meal. Yes, Trattoria al Trovatore is located in a tourist-heavy area, and the prices reflect that. However, the quality of the food, the exceptional live music, and the genuine Roman atmosphere made it worth every euro. It wasn't just a meal; it was an experience. This is our last night in Rome and we are currently sitting in "Il Girasole" feeling so very full and happy after eating THE most amazing meal ever.

1. Flavours: we ordered the suppli and the tomato bruschetta... wow... the suppli was crispy on the outside and soft and textured on the inside. The mozarella used was the nicest I've ever had, absolutely delicious! The bruschetta had fresh basil which was noticeable and the bread was perfectly toasted. Divine. We then had the pasta Cacio y Pepe; a creamy perfectly cooked pasta dish with a wonderful flavoursome sauce that left us wanting more! We also had the best calzone in the world. The crust was insanely good, crispy yet fluffy, and again - the mozzarella they use here is incredible. I ate the whole calzone out of pure greed because I couldn't bare to leave any haha Our dessert was the Nutella doughballs which were heavenly! Sweet but light and airy. Perfection!

Honestly, we couldn't find a single fault with the meal and we asked the server to give our compliments to the chef which is pretty rare for us to do.

2. Service: we were served by a lovely friendly young lady. The service was attentive and prompt even though the restaurant was at full capacity. 10/10!!!

3. Ambience: they have a piano man playing whilst we eat and he is so sweet and talented! It's such a vibe that we ordered an aperol spritz to enjoy the moment! It's the epitome of what I envisioned a meal in Rome to be and completely exceeded my expectations.

Extras: all vegan dishes are marked on the menu which is very thoughtful, and they also have highlighted recommended dishes (our dessert was one of them!)

The restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing, we are so sad it's our last night because we would have definitely come back again to try more food!

I have NEVER been treated so horribly in a restaurant in my LIFE. Me and my family went out for dinner and decided to eat in this restaurant. We were directed to our table — a table at the back of the restaurant, next to the room where they kept the supplies. We weren’t quite happy in this table as the view and smell wasn’t very pleasing. Lucky for us, the table next to it was empty, so we requested our server, a man with asian features (to describe him physically), told us that table was reserved. We thought it was weird, as it was already pretty late and the table was for 7. But, as we just wanted to eat, we didn’t say anything and stayed in our table. To try and make the view a little bit better, we scooted the table a little bit closer to the one we wanted to move. The server, as rude as the last time, said we couldn’t do that. Mind you, we moved the table around 5cm, so it wasn’t a lot, just enough to keep the supplies out of view. At this point, we are a little bit frustrated, as he is not making any effort to ensure we are comfortable or even satisfied with our dinner. This server’s attitude and face expressions were not pleasant to be around. What’s more, it made us want to leave. And so we did. We found a wonderful restaurant a couple blocks ahead. In conclusion, I do not recommend this restaurant as this specific server was very unpleasant and unwelcoming with us.
