Arrived Friday 23 - Wednesday 28th June 2017. Read a lot of mixed reviews - some not so good but I think a lot of them are from people who are used to 4 star luxury who don't usually do 'Travelodge' style accommodation. Having weighed up the options with comparable accommodation and reviews we took a chance and made a booking and very happy we did! B&B Giovy consists of 2 floors in a large residential apartment building, with other hotels on other floors. It is a 2 minute walk from Roma Termini train station and surrounded by cafes, restaurants, fast food eateries, shops, souvenir stalls etc, amongst all life and usefulness. Check the rout on Google maps and street view as this will give you the full picture of what to expect and how to recognise the building when you arrive. Farouk arrived within seconds of ringing the doorbell and booked us in very quickly, showing us straight to our room. He is a very friendly, helpful guy (easily contacted via text if you need any help or advice before or during your stay - answers immediately), gave us a local map, pointing out all places of interest and told us if we wanted to purchase open top bus tour tickets he could provide them. Our room was a twin bed, with private bathroom (great shower!) air conditioning, small fridge, tv and Juliet balcony. It was clean, pleasant and comfortable. A safe with key was provided, there were toiletries, towels and complimentary slippers and WiFi also. We had daily housekeeping which we were grateful for. The breakfast included sliced white and brown bread (toast), kraft cheeses, fruit, croissants, butter, jams, yogurts, boiled eggs and as much tea/coffee/water/juice you wanted from a help yourself machine. The little breakfast room was cosy and Farouk was there to provide whatever he could and offer tourist advice or just have a friendly chat. He very kindly kept our suitcases safe on the last day, after check out, so we could spend our last hours before flying home sightseeing without dragging cases everywhere. Only complaint was that the small lift was not reliable (only 4 flights of steps but after walking for hours they seem like Ben Nevis!). Apart from this I would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful in a central location near everything you need. Don't be put off by some rather snobby comments - you get what you pay for. If you want 4 star luxury there are plenty of options within a...
Read morewe arrived much later than expected due to a taxi strike in Rome. B&B giovy is conveniently located a couple of blocks from the bus terminal, Termini E in Rome. We went to the address, looked over the bank of door bells by the door and buzzed the buzzer labelled B&B Giovy. Our host answered the buzzer at the address and was up for us. We were in bed after a brief check-in. Our luggage was delayed and when it arrived from the airport our host collected it and locked it up for us while we were out. The room we had was nice, clean and it was not expensive. Breakfast was a variety of breads, jams, cheeses, pastries, yogurt, coffee. It fit the bill. What stood out was the kindness and selflessness of our hosts. Our arrival was really late we were waiting for lost luggage and our hosts didn't betray any irritation at any added inconvenience because they really are that hospitable. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
There are many places to stay in Rome but if we had stayed in any other place not near Termini E we really would have been in trouble at 3:00am during that Taxi Strike because the bus provided by the airport had only one destination and that was...
Read moreThis was the worst bed and breakfast I have ever been too. First off the location of the b&b is not easy to identify from the street. The only signage is a piece of paper with the name Giovy written on it. Once we actually for the place it looked like an old hotel building. After checking in the owner gave us a key ring with FIVE keys on it. One key was for your room, one for the elevator, one for the safe, one for the hallway to get to your room and one for the main gate outside of the apartment area. It was very hard to open the hallway door and we were only able to get through the main gate when another person was either going in or out. The beds in the rooms were twin size beds but they were two small for me and I'm only 5'7. The shower was faulty and their was no way to avoid the water stream. I would advice anyone who is look at this b&b to turn away, your stay will not...
