Fortunately this review is written on a computer, since a pen would not contain enough ink to write praises of Hotel Barocco.
Location: The location is excellent within Piazza Barberini. The subway stop is within the Piazza, so it's easy to get around Rome via public transport. Should you choose to walk to all the locations you're interested in (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, others), they are all within a ten minute walk. It's great being in such a centrally located place.
Accommodations: Nothing short of stellar. The rooms are a beautiful marble and a comfortable size. The showers are quite nice with nice glass construction. The doors to the hallways are made of ridiculously thick wood to keep the noise out. If you have concerns about noise from the outside since you're on Piazza Barberini, think again. The windows are two layers. I don't mean double pane. I mean there are two windows per window (and shutters). You won't hear a thing from the piazza. Sleep tight. On the subject of sleeping, the bedding is extremely comfortable. Housekeeping is incredible. Our room was made up multiple times a day (I'm not sure if that means we are messy or if housekeeping is incredibly attentive). When we arrived we even had beautiful flowers in our robes!
Staffing: The staff at the front desk is top notch. I requested a shuttle to pick me up from the cruise terminal at Civitavecchia (45 minutes away). No problem, a nice gentlemen in a Mercedes and a black suit arrived on time and was extremely professional. I asked for a tour of the Vatican, they arranged a private one (at a very good cost) with an extremely experienced (20+ years) local tour guide. I asked for a shuttle to the airport, and yet another gentlemen in a black Mercedes spirited us back home (sadly). I have nothing but praise for the front desk staff, and it isn't only one person; each and every person we interacted with spoke good English and was extremely caring to our needs. Being that we were on our honeymoon a bottle of Prosecco and delicious baked treats was put in our rooms.
Food: Breakfast is included. It's fabulous. Eggs, quiche, fruit, Italian baked goods, cereal.
Overall: I cannot write enough good things about our experience for our honeymoon. We went on a cruise, and only two days were spent in Hotel Barocco. Note the length of this review... this fantastic experience staying with them was all in a...
Read moreI had an excellent stay at Hotel Barroco, a charming boutique hotel located just steps away from Piazza Barberini and its famous fountain. The hotel’s location is absolutely stunning, with countless eateries and restaurants nearby, including the renowned Osteria Barberini, known for its truffle dishes. Additionally, the Barberini train station is just a short walk away, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Rome. Major attractions like the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon are only a 9-minute walk from the hotel, adding to its appeal.
The hotel itself offers cozy accommodations, with rooms on the smaller side, as expected for a city-center location, but with surprisingly spacious bathrooms. All essential amenities were provided, and though kettles and irons aren’t in the rooms by default, they can be requested. Breakfast is served à la carte, requiring reservations due to limited seating, with the main dish available only once, but side dishes can be requested freely. The hotel also has an elevator, which is a plus for travelers with luggage.
One downside is the lack of air conditioning, which is typical for many hotels in the area. We opened the window for ventilation during our stay, but street noise was audible as our room was on the second floor. While this might bother light sleepers, it wasn’t an issue for us after long, tiring days. Additionally, the towel rail in the bathroom only operates during winter, making it challenging to dry washed items like socks.
What truly sets Hotel Barroco apart, however, is its extraordinary service. I want to give a special mention to Carlo and the front desk team, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless. The hotel provides a 24/7 WhatsApp service, allowing guests to reach staff anytime, which I found incredibly convenient. Carlo was particularly helpful in assisting me with a delivery issue, even ensuring follow-up support when his shift ended. This level of care made me feel safe and at home, turning my stay into a memorable experience.
Overall, the value for money is justified by the hotel’s unbeatable location, comfortable amenities, and outstanding service. For anyone visiting Rome, I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Barroco for a secure, welcoming, and centrally...
Read moreJust fabulous!!!! My husband, son, and I stayed at Hotel Barocco in May. All the communication prior to our stay was promptly answered and questions addressed. I was impressed with the Ebook they sent giving us many details about the hotel and the surrounding area in Rome. I booked the private transportation from the airport through the hotel- "Top Driver". Fabio was truly "fabulous" waiting outside of baggage with a sign with our name on it, and the ride to the hotel in his new BMW sedan was fabulous too! We arrived early, but the friendly smiles and greetings of Lisa, Danielle, and Valerio at the desk made us feel immediately at home, especially after a long flight from the states. We were offered coffee and a snack as we waited for our room to be ready, and come to our surprise, they gave us a complimentary upgrade to larger rooms!! Thank you!! The rooms were very comfortable and modern. Ours looked out over Plaza Barberini. Be advised that on the weekend, the plaza can be noisy due to late night partying by the locals, so if you want a quieter stay, ask for a room more to the interior of the hotel. This did not hamper our stay at all though. The breakfast is very worthwhile, served European style and cooked to order in their quaint dining room. Stephano and Zuzanna were extremely efficient and friendly offering great service. Even the bar tenders were friendly and helpful! The staff arranged cabs for us when we needed. We also booked the private transfer for 3 in the minivan to the cruise port (200 euro), but worth every penny as it dropped us off right in front of the cruise terminal at Citavitaveccia port. Hotel Barocco is a real gem, and we are SO GLAD we stayed there. Plaza Barbarini was easy walking distance to all the attractions...Vatican was a little farther, but still walkable. There were plenty of restaurants and shopping off of the streets of the plaza. The area and hotel was safe and we highly recommend it for a stay in Rome!! 5 stars!!!! Thank you again for a fabulous stay!! It also looks just like the pictures presented on...
