Intimate restaurant that will not leave you wanting in any way! The owners cook and serve with welcoming and open arms! The clientele is a mixture of locals and us fortunate tourists, that win the dinner lottery when they make a reservation. Unlike many other places we visited in town, we were treated like old friends and not irritating tourists. *Please know you really should get a reservation or you risk not getting to enjoy this hidden gem. There are only 7 tables or 14 seats available. We used Fork app once and reserved ahead at the restaurant * The few times we ate there, the food was unwavering!! We had an appetizer each time, varying meat and cheese boards, caprice, etc. All the meats are sliced fresh by the chef and styled beautifully on the plate. For our first, we tried a variety of pastas including carbonara, lasagna, and others. For seconds we had a variety of bruschetta. Our favorite by far was the one with meat, ricotta, and honey (it sounds weird and I almost didn't want to try it but am so glad I did because it was aaaaamazing) The mains, they have an amazing pork and a soup fagioli that was so simple yet so complex it was mind blowing. I don't like any sort of coffee but I had the molten lava cake and fresh cream. Everyone else in the restaurant got the fresh made to order tiramisu that I hear can't be beat! We finished off with some 2014 special reserve grape digestif that definitely helped the immense fullness I was feeling. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation or try your luck and stop by to see if you can be fit in, you definitely will not...
Read moreHave you ever heard that question -- if you were stuck on a desert island with only one restaurant for the rest of your life, which would you choose? I'd pick Franschetteria. No question. We are foodies who arrived in Rome 10 days ago and consider ourselves the luckiest people on the planet because our apartment is right next to this incredible restaurant. We have now eaten there 4 times (or has it been 5?). We've almost tried everything on the menu and there has not been a single dish that isn't either solidly delicious (as in way better than all the other restaurants nearby) or out of this world (as in Michelin star best I've ever had). In the out of this world category, all the charcuterie boards (in particular the bresaola), the lasagne, bean stew, bufala salad, and tagliatelle stand out. Oh, and the tiramisu and tarts are heavenly. The problem is that we keep getting so distracted by our favorites that we haven't yet sampled everything on the menu. We keep trying other restaurants in Rome but return here because we still haven't found anything that equals it for the quality of the ingredients, food, and love with which it's been prepared. Bonus that the prices are less expensive than every other place nearby too. Most importantly though, the owners Fabio and Valentina have made us feel completely at home. They greet us by name like long lost friends. They know our preferences. Why isn't there a line out the door? Why haven't Fabio and Valentina raised their prices? Who knows. Just go. You won't be sorry. I cannot recommend this brilliant, local, family run, hidden gem...

Fantastic little restaurant. It seats about 12 inside and 2 outside. We made a reservation via the fork for 6pm (not realizing at the time that this is far too early for traditional Italian dinners--per a previous days guide).
About 5:30, we were just walking around when it began raining. Without realizing it, we sought shelter under a small awning that turned out to be this place we had reservations. We arrived before they opened.
The two restauranteers arrived to open and were very friendly. They Informed us our reservation had been pushed to 6:30 (TheFork didn't notify us and we were perfectly fine with this, but be aware it could happen if you book for the 6pm slot).
They were so incredibly welcoming despite us being early and allowed us to continue seeking shelter from the rain. We had wine and sparkling water while we waited for them to fully open.
The wine was from the Lazio region and very good. As was the water.
We ordered and split Caprese, Amatriciana, Porchetta, and Pistachio Tiramisu.
Each dish varies from good to beyond excellent. In my opinion they increased in quality in the order we got them (but maybe that was to do with the wine?). Seriously, this Pistachio Tiramisu was 6 out of 5. Beyond all expectations and the best Tiramisu I've ever had.
This was such a worthwhile stop and I cannot urge you to make a...
