First, I need to say, that I only stayed at this sweet hotel for 12 hours...it was a late arrival, one night, and an early departure. That being said, I cannot speak to some of the aspects of Relais Giulia Hotel, like the breakfast or the staff. However, in my short stay, a few issues stood out that I thought were worth writing a review about. ||||Pros: 1) Very responsive staff with regard to email communication. 2) The late check-in process was clearly explained and everything worked seamlessly. 3) The hotel room was immaculate. 4) The hotel room was fairly spacious, especially by Rome standards. 5) The hotel is situated on a beautiful QUIET street in the center of Rome with easy walkability to The Vatican and many other sights. 6) Great price compared to other hotels in Rome's city center.||||Cons: 1) There is no one at the reception desk from 4pm -8am. This isn't necessarily a con, just be aware and understand if you need assistance, you're on your own at these hours. 2) Your room key is a "virtual key" accessed through your cellular phone. This isn't necessarily a con, but if you are not technically inclined, you may not want to risk it! I am comfortable with my cell phone, but I had to log into the hotel's internet before I could access my room. On the pro side...everything is clearly explained in an email prior to your arrival and they even have a YouTube video on how to use the virtual key, but if you don't have a data plan with 4G or 5G, you will need to get onto the hotel wifi first. ||||Overall, this is a sweet hotel on one of the loveliest streets in Rome. If you do not require extra frills or personal attention, it could be a great option for you. I would be curious as to how the hotel breakfast is presented, but the staff, in my limited experience, seemed very responsive and...
Read moreRelais Giulia was an amazing addition to our week in Rome. Our family of 6 stayed in two separate rooms - grandparents had a cozy bedroom and the other four of us stayed in a room with a loft for the kids. The location is absolutely amazing. Rome is a very walkable city, and we truly felt like Relais Giulia was in the middle of everything! ||The service was also amazing. Our flight got in later than the "in person" check-in window for this hotel, so we knew to complete the online check-in procedure (there is an electronic key for the rooms). However, the wonderful gentleman, Asci, at the front desk had actually stayed back past the "in person" check-in so that he could teach us how to use the electronic key, recommend some authentic restaurants nearby, and answer any other questions we had about the city. This was absolutely amazing service (Thank you, Asci!). He also helped us book transportation to and from the airport which was very convenient. Overall, all of the staff here throughout our stay was very friendly!||The bedroom was very clean, well kept, and SO beautiful. Very picturesque. Housekeeping was so attentive and kind as well. We truly felt like this was such an authentic and amazing experience. We highly recommend staying at Relais Giulia and definitely hope to be back...
Read moreHistoric and charming building for sure. I'm not so sure if that translates to a functional and comfortable stay through. Firstly, the rooms and the bathrooms are comically small. There's a bed, wardrobe and a small table and then there's barely any space to open up one medium sized suitcase. No it's not one of those modern compact rooms that's designed to be space efficient, it's just dysfunctionally small. The shower cubicle is so small that I could not stretch my arms to give myself a proper scrub. I'm 5'10" and weighs about 75kg (so not a big a person by any stretch of imagination). There's trace amounts of black mould in the shower. The biggest problem however was sound proofing. The floors are completely made of wood, no it's not wooden tiling, it's just all timber. This means you hear every movement of those in the rooms above you. If there happens to be kids in a room on the floor above, good luck!! I had my sleep disrupted many times during my stay. On a more positive positive note, the front desk guy who checked me in...
