Residenza Dei Principi — Hotel in Rome

THEFT BY STAFF ruined our stay. The proprietor's inadequate response made the stay worse.

THEFT BY STAFF: On the only full day of our two-night stay at Residenza Dei Principi, we left our room locked with electronic devices in open view near the beds. Upon return, beds were made, but the electronic devices were gone. We reported the theft immediately via the only method available, messaging with pictures. My text “accusations” was gentile but pointed in hopes of the proprietor shaming the thief to do the right thing and return the stolen items. I explained we had to leave early the next morning for the airport. Unfortunately, this is a no/low contact B&B. The proprietor’s FIRST text reply was when we had checked-out and were at the airport more than 12 hours later. Despite my repeated and more pointed contact in the subsequent almost two weeks, the Residenza Dei Principi does nothing, treating this as misplaced devices. The proprietor’s only response is, "...cleaning staff did not found and report anything! Many thanks"

Rome has world famous skillful pickpockets at its iconic sights. On the other hand, we rely on Italian hotels and B&Bs to be safe places from domestic thieves. The only place we were victims of theft over a 15-day vacation was at Residenza Dei Principi.

RUINED: Unfortunately, the stay was ruined by theft of items from our room while we were out. Thus it is difficult to endorse anything about La Residenza dei Principi or our stay there.

------- UPDATE 24Aug2023 -------------- The proprietors have sent a mildly threatening letter [see attached photo] from presumably their attorney requesting we remove this review. We know their staff stole our property during our stay there. WE WILL NOT REMOVE THIS REVIEW without an apology...

This B and B La Residenza dei Principi is a lovely choice to stay, it is like a little apartment with only a few rooms, it is very secure on the fifth floor with 3 doors to enter the apartment all coded and key. It has a lift that worked perfectly the whole of our stay but just encase i would not recommend if you have buggies and young babies. ||It is in a great location with the termini station only around the corner. ||when we arrived, we were greeted and shown a map and was explained the local sights, all the questions i asked he was friendly able to answer. ||If you can afford them, i would recommend the guided tours of Vatican and Colosseum as you learn a lot more about them than trying to look around by yourself, be wary tho that fast track does not include the security que, you have to go through that line everywhere and the Colosseum one was particularly long even at low season. ||Our room was spacious, and very very clean and every day we had fresh sheets even though this was not needed. The room has a safe that was easy to use and this was very useful. A small but filling breakfast was provided every morning, self service and was always enough for every guest. ||we found some lovely Italian places to eat locally, but if you are on a budget, there is a McDonalds, and other such fast food around the termini station. ||The metro i found quiet easy to travel only two routes. ||My only negative about this place is the walls are quiet thin so you can hear the other guests sometimes but the tv can always...
