My family and I ate at Doveralu twice, once on St. Patrick's Day (dined in) and then again on my birthday (takeaway), and honestly, it was the best eating experience I've had in Rome! Our waiter Andrea (Andrew), was very knowledgeable and friendly. He informed me that they could make almost any meal gluten-free (Glutine).
On St. Patrick's Day, my family and I ordered a bottle of Marabino Rosso Di Contrada, and it was decadent. I also ordered the Carpaccio Di Salmone for my appetizer. However, I did not know that Carpaccio in English translates to "thinly sliced raw fish," and I was initially skeptical about eating it. Our waiter assured me it would taste good and told me to try it with the garlic bread on our table. He was right. I had never tried raw fish before, but the Carpaccio tasted AMAZING! I ordered Spaghettoni All' Amatriciana (Glutine) for my main course, and it tasted like heaven in every bite. It tasted so good that I returned the next day and ordered it again for takeaway.
Doveralu is an amazing restaurant, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Every staff member is friendly, and kind and I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great place to...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible service. We waited for our food for more than 45 minutes (spoiler: we left the restaurant without having any food - that’s how upset we were). We were hungry and exhausted. We asked a waitress about our food. She smiled and said “It’s coming” and then left. We didn’t see her checking with the kitchen.
After 10 minutes, we asked another waitress. She showed concern for us but asked “Did you order the food separately?” What a funny and odd question. Of course, we ordered everything in one go. Regardless of whether we ordered our food separately, none of our food had arrived at all - not even a simple soup that we ordered. The tables that arrived after us had all received their food and were almost finished.
We were so upset that we decided to leave after 45 minutes of waiting. That’s when the food finally came out. LOL. The staff explained “Your sea bass needs 25 minutes to cook.” What a joke! Did you even ask how long we had waited? It was definitely more than 25 minutes.
The best part? The waiter who took our order had left our soup out, so our soup was not ordered at all.
A ridiculously horrible experience. I’m not sure if the food is great, take...
Read moreMy husband and I stumbled across the tucked-away Doveralù Café on our walking route while looking for some sustenance to kick off a Rome sightseeing day 🤩 The outdoor seating area was so inviting, totally made the right choice 👍
The food was delicious—we love mixing sweet and savory, so we shared a sandwich and some banana bread. The portion sizes were enough to split for sure! Plus, when we saw an XXL cappuccino on the menu, we had to go for it 👀 Huge shoutout to our lovely Server for reassuring us that it really was XXL after a little debate I just had to spark (all in fun of course 😅) ➡️ After living in Germany for almost three years, we’ve come to accept that “XXL” usually means a strong medium at best based on what we’re used to lol—but this one definitely lived up to the name! A perfect, strong start to our morning ☕️
Compared to some others in the area, this café runs high on price 💶 BUT the quick and friendly service, the modern and elevated presentation of everything (not to mention the high quality ingredients and flavor 😋) alongside the prime location near local shops and easy access to public transportation make it worth a stop if you’re in the area...
